Lol you have absolutely no idea about anything in this subject, nor know anything about my military. If you knew anything about the military, you'd know that if you're in any kind of pain, you're slapped with an 800MG motrin and told to suck it up.

    LOL. Civilians....

You're not hearing me. Some people have addictive personalities that get them addicted to things that are legal. Opioids have actual chemicals in them that CAUSE addiction.

Yup. It's called personal responsibility. Don't need government to protect me from myself.

I can get on board with that. I'm somewhat libertarian. I'm just pointing out the dangers in it. I think natural things like weed, mushrooms, or whatever grows in the ground is perfectly fine. I think pharmaceutically manufactured opiates are iffy. In my opinion, they are made that way to keep the patients buying more.

Actually I probably know far more than you about this subject than you as I served in an Airborne unit & was in the Army from 1969 to '72 most likely before you were born.

I've used our local V.A. hospital for several service connected injuries, wounds, chronic lower back issues & had 2 total hip replacements.

I can assure you that I was not not "slapped with 800MG motrin and told to suck it up" nor has any Dr. that's seen an MRI of my lower back done the same.

No, I don't know what is currently done in the military but I remember that for serious burns & injuries, G.I.s were given more than Motrin. You've just never been seriously injured or wounded.
You should still be grateful you don't have any serious chronic pain issues.........for now, because if you do, Motrin isn't going to cut it.

Now, I'm off to get a root canal this afternoon.

Ok, I'll bite. But many of these chemicals these pain meds (the opioids...pain killers) do severe damage to the liver and other vital organs. So you take a shell to the leg, have chronic pain, your best bet is to feed yourself liver-killers to give you temporary relief? Speed up the death process?

    You're like a pharmaceutical commercial.

When one of the guys in my high school went to California to pick up a load of drugs in 1964 I thought about assassinating him, but made the mistake of not doing it.

Thank God you're not a Medic because you know squat pain meds & chronic pain. NSAIDs do far more damage to your organs than opioids.
More people die every year from NSAID side effects (like stomach bleeding) than opioid organ damage....look it up.

No, I'm just a "Scratch n' Dent" Vet. who served my country, got busted up doing it & likes to get on with my life with minimum pain

Ok, I will look it up. My entire point of my original post was that I believe there are very beneficial uses for pot for patients who's bodies reject certain medications.

to some, they were not to me... millions take Opioids, some get addicted, most do not

personally I found nothing addictive about the medicine, other then it relived pain, so if i was in chronic pain I suppose I would be addicted to not having pain ;)

some get addicted to alcohol, most do not - not sure why with different people react differently, all I can say is I saw nothing addictive about the medicine and it worked after my surgery

I agree about the beneficial uses for pot for many patients, especially those undergoing chemotherapy.
Meanwhile, please go easy on those NASADs, they can trash your stomach & have caused many people to bleed to death .

I personally think that it should all be legal.

And it's been shown that even hard drugs can have a medicinal effect. One recent trial used molly to treat PTSD. It was very promising.
