Yes, guns haven't been the problem until the last 20 years after being in the country for over 200. Good observation.

Dude you have to be honest now and admit that in a democracy there is no chance of your plan happening. Maybe china or north korea but that's it

No it's not......your still left with crazy, and they will chose a bomb, or a vehicle, or something else instead.

We have a very similar political system, two main parties who dont do a whole lot.

That said, when some **** goes down like port arthur, they do try and get something done as opposed to just chatting.

The troll is not a victim. I asked him for ONE thread where we talked specifics about preventing mass shootings. He could neither respect that nor give an inch. AND, that is when I got threats in my PM. He has plenty of supporters, but when he can limit the conversations, he is NOT in the same shoes as Rubio was. Rubio invited no backlash; he only tried to explain his position, the same way others are trying to do on this board. Drowning out an opposing view with the same chant is cowardly and dishonest.

Your primary concern is my "negative energy." Nice didn't work; patience didn't work; being respectful and accepting the same message over and over and over again in a dozen posts and begging for ONE thread where we talked honestly about preventing mass shootings brought the fury of HELL down on me. Negative energy? Yep. We could stop the carnage with one discussion and implementing the program... it would probably save the government untold BILLIONS of dollars every year.

Your right, because in a democracy most of the people are ill informed and vote for what gives them more. The US is a Republic and was supposed to have intelligent people representing us and if need be saving us from ourselves.

Better question.....how many murders where there in Canada in 2016......611 total.

In the US......17,250, hell Chicago had 765 by itself.

We have a problem and it isn't caused by guns.

Vast majority of those murders were by gun. You are making my point

According to the numbers slightly less then half. So even if you take out the murder where a gun was used we're left with 8,625, which is 14X that of Canada. We have a problem overall and I've been trying to get you to understand that. Guns are only a tool in the problem. We need to correct the problem.

    Back on point.

Have we not accepted mediocrity, sold out our values, compromised with evil, been silent while the people who hate our foundational principles take them incrementally over issues that they created, Hegelian style?

Instead of figuring out what goes wrong and fix it, don't we sit in silence and allow reactionaries to do a knee jerk reaction and suggest laws that are in conflict with the Constitution AND do not even apply to the issue at hand?

I'm embarrassed that when people suggest solutions (sic) to issues that caused us to fight against in establishing this Republic, those who fancy themselves as patriots cower in fear and try to appease traitors. We pat them on the back, shake their hands, and break bread with them when, if we had any guts, we'd arrest them for treason and tell the world we're taking back our country.

Should I be embarrassed? We've tried to lock the posterity of America out and silence them. Instead of ignoring a few radical extremist groups and let them have their say and allowing them to experience an anti-climatic finale to their venting, we start a war over it and then cry when they fight back for having been locked out. We don't try to heal the sick; we put them in prison; we don't try to fix broken families, we interfere and make it a criminal matter - destroying their lives forever. Instead of fighting drugs, we allow Hollywood to glamorize it and entertain us with it... most of its actors are on those drugs we wail about. Society then does the monkey see monkey do thing. We create political crimes so that we don't have to deal with real crimes.

The reasons are simple: We force our politicians to lie to us and then they have to become shills for the corporate giants that buy them. We don't want the truth. We want catchy one liners that you can stick on a bumper sticker. Too many people dare not let you tell the truth. Most, on either side of the political side of the aisle realize that their positions are weak. But, they cannot tell their supporters the long term ramifications of their actions. Democrats demand the Nanny State; Republicans demand the POLICE STATE. Both are going to the same destination by different routes.

Adding insult to injury, we dare not stand up for the things that protect us from becoming what we fought to get away from. It might offend the wrong people. For over 225 years our foundational principles served us well. And, the more we followed the original blueprint, the better off this country became. We became the greatest nation in the recorded annals of history. Yet we're allowing people who hate, loathe, and despise everything we stand for to destroy it rather than fix what THEY screwed up. And in case you need a road-map, try researching Hegelian Dialectics.

The deliberate mismanagement of political agencies that were supposed to help people are now tools to create pretexts to take away your Freedoms and Liberties. DFACS, CPS, DFC, and whatever name your state uses to describe the Depts. of Family and Children Services are a major clusterph^(# of a joke. Instead of solving problems, they create them. They put kids on drugs and split up families to appease political hacks that think government ought to be used to enforce their world view. I wish I could say it all in one post, but this is the Internet and the schools turned out mindless half wits that can't read this far - unless it's a recap of the Super Bowl, all they know is TLDR.

Between absent fathers, drugs being distributed by the government, prisons being used for mental institutions, wholesale divorce, assaults on the family unit, tv programs that are political propaganda presented as entertainment, and the government trying to disenfranchise large segments of society to make room for the brain dead zombies they have programmed and / or imported, we're pretty much screwed. As long as the average American has three cots and a cot, a cold beer, a warm woman (or man), a few joints, their Internet, ball games, and video games, they couldn't care less where we wind up. Yeah, I'd like to say more, but it can't be said in one posting so that people would actually read it.

Short sighted posts barely deserve an answer, but my earlier post (#140) is sufficient enough to tell you what is wrong. If not for Liberty, America would be a third world cesspool. While we accept some risk for our Liberties, I can make no excuse for mass shootings. And the real problem with them is simple:

The left don't have a solution and the right thinks that weapons will never be confiscated. So, the left creates the pretexts and the right sits on their ass, not willing to stand up to them and say, let's have an honest discussion about what just happened.

Had it not been for two people putting on the pressure, you'd still be stuck with the only two words your vocabulary contains. Thank the guy that helped you out.

Would that be gun control. Because I think we established his plan has no chance of passing so we will need gun control to save lives

Even if Australia still had guns, your average Australian is not a murderer.

Because Petrol or Molotov Cocktails are worse than Guns, and anyone that can mix drinks, can concoct them....

1878 is the year to consider....

Is the average american now worse off than over a 130 years ago?
    In 1878 ?

Answer: The average American is much better off now, than in 1878.

    FIFY....
