And reagan was not around to hold them to that promise

There's enough difference that I know even as bad as is this budget its better than anything Democrats would pass.

Yes, it likely is a big win for the Democrats.

Much of the conservative and alt-right/light base is stunned and feels betrayed, that will not bode well for high turnout in the midterm elections. The Dems could benefit greatly from this when disillusioned voters stay home.

When Mexicans still cross and get by with a border wall, I will only be wondering then what the Trump folk will be saying.

People voted Republican for anger management, not because they thought Republicans would actually do anything. It’s still Dems that are the action takers.

We are extremely unhappy. This omnibus was, as one GOP Congressman said, a Great Dane sized whiz on the leg of every taxpayer.

One man against the entire swamp? He has done better than I expected, but, this is just a massive disappointment.

Who is we? The Trump Folk or Average Americans? Trump already caved to Schumer with the DACA recipients. Once you know how to flatter Trump, the caving in will begin.

Welcome to the world of politics. It isn't about always or only about imposing your will on the minority. Politics works best when there is compromise. That's what happened here.

It seems like we are adding Federal Debt a lot faster than we are adding GDP.

Is it OK to jump off a cliff, so long as you are holding hands with the opposition when you do it?

    Speak for yourself

Most had very reasonable reasons to oppose obama and the democrats

Unfortunately the corrupt and spineless RINOs failed to deliver what they promised

    I agreee.

Trump should have brought in some people who were savvy on how politics in Washington and the Deep State worked. Newt Gingrich would have been a good choice, for example, and John Bolton should have been in there right away. The President has to surrounded himself with a mix of insiders as well as good people who want to clean up the mess that's been created.

After getting snookered by members of his own party on this disastrous budget do the insiders also have a response to the FBI/Mueller/DNC/Hillary Clinton fraud? He may be smothered by the Swamp again.

Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell certainly have to go, but that's tough.

1996-2000 Republican control of the budget surpluses
2004-2007 Republican control of the budget falling deficits down to $161B
2008-2015 Democrat control of the budget $1,400B and $1,000B plus deficits

Presumably the majority of lawmakers thought it was the right thing to do, and that their constituents wouldn't punish them for it.

    Good point.

Its probably too late to avoid a collapse of this house of cards. Democrats not only won't fix the problem, they want the problem to get worse (some don't even think there is a problem). Many Republicans including the leadership seem to have the same mindset as Democrats. As I've posted before, Trump is probably the calm before the storm. The clock is ticking, better get ready.

No they didn’t, the ones I’m talking about aren’t in office....yet. You guys knocked off most of the house blue dogs with fake promises of controlling spending lol

The gop. Moderate dems will run against house republicans who voted for this with promises to control spending, just like the republicans did to win the house and senate.

It's likely true that they won't be punished, though how giving China $15 million for research should be explained, especially when they're borrowing money from China.

If the electorate keeps electing people who claim to be conservative but are instead self enrichment swamp dwellers, the charade will successfully continue. Peter Schweizer does another excellent job. Mitch McConnell, just one of many, has has become very wealthy while representing 'the people'.
