    Colour me astonished.

I wonder of his war-hawk Cabinet have yet been told? Apparently the Pentagon and State Dept., weren't told in advance of his remarks.

I also wonder if this is somehow tied to the apparent agreement that China has engineered in North Korea regarding Kim Jon Ong's willingness to give up NK's nuclear weapons programme?

In any event, if it proves true true - and not spoiled by those who wish to continue US regime change plans - it's very welcome news. Giving peace a chance for a change can only be beneficial for all parties concerned.

I bet he'll get hell from the Russian troll hunters though.... :fight:

I so wish Trump and his departments were all on board with each other.

Well if Trump does pull our troops out I will have to say way to go. Rarely does he do the right thing but I am willing to say when he does. Syria is none of our business.

    I agree with Crawdadr's opinion.

We do not belong in Syria.

Not only were we in Syria, but we were arming Al Qaeda and ISIS. The dumbest **** I've seen in a while

The Establishment will shame Trump into backing down by claiming "appeasement" - we are appeasing Russia and dictators and so on.

In usual fine form ... the MSM can not cover Syria without including patent falsehoods, false narrative, and lies.

    1) ABC knows full well that the conflict in Syria was not a "civil war" ... it was an armed insurgency where we supported the Islamist extremists.

    2) Every time Assad's forces liberate a city from control of the extremists (Al Qaeda/Al Nusra/ISIS) the "People" of Syria come out and cheer. When interviewed they tell horror stories about what life was like under the US backed extremists.

None of the cities liberated were held by the so called "moderate rebels" .. because no such force of any significance existed.

TheGiftedOne fails to note in 1) that "the Islamist extremists" were a quite small insurgency among all the insurgents.

In the meantime, the US is building a large military base in Syria near the Jordanian border.

If he bucks the MIC and gets us out of Syria sounds good to me. I think he is wandering into impeachment territory with that because it will anger the republicans, but go go Twitler.

A mild shade of astonishing; I've got this feeling that Trump never wanted to go into Syria in the first place: He was merely dancing to the zio/saud lobbies' tunes, like his predecessors all did.

Last time I cheked, about 1 such group in six doesn't have an islamist agenda. The others, akin to Al-Nusra, aim for a wahabist, islamic state.

I'm inclined to agree. Trump wanted to clear out the Washington swamp prior to the election. He then found it was far more powerful than he had ever imagined and, I think, was soon forced to adopt some of their foreign policy plans just to survive. Tat's my take any way.

Yep, yep. Same here. He did have good intentions, however mis-directed they may have been.

He capitulated to the Swamp when he fired Bannon.

I saw some clown puppet pundit General the other day on Fox talking about Syria lying his face in an effort to demonize Russia for supporting the Assad regime. His nonsense contradicted stuff that Fox had previously reported on. The interviewer (while perhaps ignorant of some of Fox's previous reporting - can not be completely ignorant of the basic details of the conflict in Syria in general) did not challenge a thing.

Then the convo turned to nuclear weapons and Russia's latest test of SATAN2 - fear mongering in relation to nuclear war and how evil Russia was for doing this - despite the fact that we just tested on just weeks ago. They then discussed Trump's phone call with Putin -citing some claim that Trump has stated "If you want an arms race we will win".

Regardless of whether or not Trump said this ... the commentator states matter a fact - of course we would win. The General concurs.

Really now .. how exactly does one "win" a nuclear arms race ? Russia can destroy the US 6 times .. we can destroy Russia 7 ?

It was truly a clown show of disingenuous ignorance, spin and propaganda. (Keep in mind that in relation to Russia - Fox is the best of the bunch -CNN and MSNBC- in relation to coverage of Russia)

We're through the looking glass. Evidence is past. Common sense has been abandoned. And critical thinking lies rotting in the grave.

Lies, empty rhetoric, exaggeration and group-thing are now de rigueur - it's actually considered essential and the order of the day.

And the herd are swayed and convinced.

The social engineering programme of the last four decades has been a roaring success.

    Stupidity is the new wisdom.

Was out last night at a birthday party and had a good chat with a young lad who was there with his mom. The kid was 16 years old and is going to be starting university. I asked - how is this possible so young ? Turns out that the kid is super smart and was moved ahead a grade.

I asked him about his education in civics. He had never been taught the principles on which this nation was founded - Individual rights and freedoms/liberty "above" the legitimate authority of Gov't .. and that the authority of Gov't comes from "we the people" instead of "divine right/God" as was the case in the past.

Asked him - do you believe that Gov't power should be limited .. "Yes .. of course" he responded. Then I said "OK ... so what then should the power of Gov't be limited to - as per the founding principles" He had absolutely no idea - of course. I then spent 15 minutes doing what our education system had failed to do in 12 years ( 11 in this case:) )

The kid was amazed. He was also shocked and dumbfounded as to why this had not been taught.

I then asked about Philosophy. The basics - logic, logical fallacy, what constitutes a valid argument, critical thinking and so on. Again .. 12 years of school and we manage not to teach this.

One time when I brought this subject up in a conversation with a teacher (in a nice way)... the response of the teacher was "We don't want kids arguing with us" Unbelievable.

It all reminds me of a bumper sticker I once saw on the back of a tanker hauling gasoline ... "If you can't stop, smile as you go under!"

Providing them with internationally illegal (119 countries signed on) cluster combs, known to have a 90% collateral casualty rate in the field. Fweedumb. Gee, I wonder where terrorism comes from.

The State propaganda you have ingested (propaganda intended to maintain a "necessary illusion" - that we are "good" and the other is "evil" ) has many convinced that this is the case.

The reality however is that this is a big falsehood. This was Obama's "moderate rebel lie" a false narrative designed to cover up the fact that the people we were supporting and arming (in conjunction with Saudi Arabia, Qatar and others) were Al Qaeda and Islamist Jihadists that went on to form modern incarnation of ISIS.

You echo the Alt Right social media bubble quite well. Your false narrative is noted. In fact, the small ISIS group got a few weapons in the hand outs to the anti-Assad insurgents. I know the truth is not what the Alt Right wants, but who cares about the Alt Right.

Since when is VP-Joe Biden, Tulsi Gabbard and the Defense Intelligence agency "Alt-Right". You have no clue what you are talking about because you have never studied the issue in any detail.

The moderates are the one's fighting for the Assad Regime.

I don't think the Republicans would do much to be honest. Right now they have a strong base with Trump. I think a few congressmen and senators will complain but I think for the most part it will stay quiet to keep Trumps base happy. At this point I think the people who come out and want the troops to stay will be the ones getting the most flak. Its hard to fight to stay when people are using families as a reason to bring them home. No one hates families.
