It was ridiculous .... Call me at least one product that is manufactured in America and which is the best in the world.
For example, the Russians make the world's best rocket engines. The world's best space rockets are also made by Russians. The best in the world nuclear power plants - Russian. The best icebreakers in the world are Russians. The best submarines in the world are Russians. Sapphire glass, Kalashnikov assault rifle, Armata tank, space launches, ... etc, in general, there are many things that Russia produces the best in the world. What makes the US the best in the world?

The real sector of the economy in the US is 15%. The rest - speculative operations and dog hairdressers. GDP is a fairy tale for idiots. Even the inventor of GDP, Simon Kuznets, calls this indicator does not correspond to the real economy.

It's Myths. In the USSR, there were queues for some types of hotspot fashion or super demanded goods, but there were never queues for bread. (except for the time of Gorbachev - the cattle and rascal)

But are there no queues in the US? For example, during the sales period

Thats true, there have never been lines for bread.
Bread, milk, canned fish and so on were easily available.

Russian sanctions will not destroy the US economy. In general, sanctions can not destroy any economy. Damage can cause, but there is no destruction. Can American sanctions destroy the Russian economy? American sanctions destroyed the economy of Iran? Or North Korea? No. So in this case. Sanctions will harm the economy. For example, the factories of Boeing and other enterprises will be shut down. the factories using aluminum will also be forced to buy expensive, this will make products uncompetitive, sales will decline, the factories will have to close. The workers will be dismissed .... and so on.

But Russians do not need to destroy the American economy. The American government is doing it very well.

My grandma had to get up at 4am every morning to get milk for my mom.
I trust her more than anyone claiming USSR didn’t have food shortages.

Do not worry, Russian counter-sanctions will not destroy the American economy. It's all about developing our own economy. But the failure to recognize American intellectual property creates a dangerous precedent that undermines the basis of Anglo-Saxon dominance in the economy. Just imagine that everyone will stop paying for watching your shitty movies from Hollywood and stop asking permission to produce products patented in the US.

Maybe she lived in some rough location. I don't remember lines for milk. We could buy bottled milk in a shop and also there were special yellow barrels in the streets with milk on tap.

Russia could ban ALL trade from the USA and we wouldn't even notice it.

however, NATO sanctions against Russia have forced their currency to plumit in value and their GDP to decline at least 1%

Did you see Russian GDP in USD? It dropped like 40% in last several years! People in Russia don’t really realize this catastrophe because Russian government reports in rubles claiming a few percentage points losses or gains and people don’t realize the difference between ruble value at the beginning and end of the year.

GDP in USD can't show the state of economy properly, that's why there is GDP PPP, which is more reliable and relevant tool.
And there is no any catastrophe here.

This wouldn’t matter that much is Russia was a self-sustained country.
Look around right now. What items do you see that were imported into Russia? Probably the computer on which you are now, your phone, most of your cloth, home electronics and so on. If your home burns down now you’ll pay considerably more to replace all that stuff than you otherwise would. Those who import into Russia don’t get paid in ruble - they get paid in USD, euro, yuan or some other currency.
What does Russia produce that you use every day? Pretty much just food - potatoes, wheat, vegetables. Chances are the meat you buy is imported.
So, yeah, a drop of 40% is a disaster. And current ruble drop is not helping. Your quality of life decreased, but you might not have noticed it yet. But, as sanctions continue, your quality of life will continue to drop and sooner or later you’ll start noticing that, just like everyone else. And as life gets worse at some point some will start questioning - why is putin spending your tax money on repairing Assad’s infrastructure instead of using it to help average Russian.

    @Thedimon
Are you trying to convince me that I'm living in catastrophe? Probably I would disappoint you, but I'm not starving, I have more than enough clothes, I didn't stop using mobile phones or watching TV and so on. I'm not an economist, I don't know details how it works, but a drop 10% percent of ruble doesn't mean prices to raise 10% too. That just doesn't happen, sorry. I don't know why, I don't know how, but that doesn't happen.

And it's this plunge of the Ruble that has made Russian products more competitive so that its grain, LNG gas, and arms industries have overtaken the US in sales. Since the US can't compete, they resort to lies and sanctions to stop Russia's trade and boost their own. But you can't make people pay what they can't afford, so it's not working. Instead nations are trading outside the dollar and in their own currency - and this is what's driving Washington crazy. :frustrated:

Our own shadow's apparently. What else is to explain so many citizens on their knees begging to give up individual liberty over a risk of harm that is 400 times less than the risk of harm from walking ?

What happened to "give me liberty or give me death" ? The citizens have now made it their "Patriotic Duty" to give up individual liberty.

Does this not bother you ?

Other than going off the dollar in trade, ignoring patents will hurt the most. Can you imagine American drugs being made and sold by Russia all over the world, at 1/10th the cost.

You'll lose a hell of a lot of money that way. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

I believe. Since you use airplanes from plywood, you could not notice. But Boeing noticed this.
