I'm not skewing anything.... I'm saying New York is responsible for over 13% of the TOTAL violent crimes in this country and their population is only 2.6% of the country as a whole. I don't think New York is bad... I just think I'm more likely to have something happen to me if I were to live there than if I live in rural America where there are WAY more guns, yet not as much violent crime.

So you just want to ignore how statistics are done. Cool.

Texas has very lax gun laws everywhere in the state. That being said, why is the violent crime there lower than states such as California, Maryland and Delaware? Why are the murder rates higher in Maryland, Illinois and Indiana? Why are the murder rates in the major cities of Texas lower than cities such as: St Louis, Baltimore, Detroit, New Orleans, Newark, Milwaukee, Washington DC, Chicago, Memphis, Philadelphia Indianapolis or Tulsa?

We can all keep manipulating statistics to support our point of view but as you pointed out earlier, the problem is this:
Even if we were to implement "Australian style gun control" in the US we would still have the problems you mention above. Instead of trying to fix the leaky bucket by figuring out what to do with the water leaking out we need to mend the bucket.

I’m on your side. As I keep saying it’s not a black and white issue. I’m just arguing against the bumper sticker slogan...”More gun control = less armed citizens = more crime”.

I'm not a native of Texas and haven't researched that state particularly,
TN is a very lax state on gun laws, but has plenty of infringements from the "big" cities such as Memphis, Chattanooga, and Nashville.

Here is a recent article that shows how the left leaning mayors of those cities are responsible for going against even state law about restricting guns in places like public parks. (TN has a law that allows that by the way)
    https://www.tennessean.com/story/ne...nashville-memphis-parks-despite-law/26956709/

    Lincoln Nebraska-

(Not that I am a supporter of bump stocks, but even the ones that passed the ban openly said it wasn't about the bumpstocks, but rather a point to be made.)

A good general article that outlines several other cities that are currently pushing gun control measures on the local level....

In general, the bigger cities have many more places that prevent you from carrying, and any legal law abiding citizen will uphold the landowners wishes in this case....

Want to tell me where my numbers are wrong? I can work the problem out for you if you'd like. I get the per Xthousand you are referring to.and trust me, I understand stats way more than I sometimes care to, but to ignore the fact that New York is responsible for a total of over 13% of the countries violent crimes and then say it's safe because of it's gun laws is absurd.

Concealed carry is not a protected right. See DC v Heller. I can open carry in my state without permission from the state.

Not ignoring, but you're comparing a city with over 8 million people without looking at the per rate amount. NYC has a population more than many STATES. Of course if you just look at the raw numbers it's going to be high. Which again is why these numbers are looked at per 10K or per 100K.

We were discussing the actions your state takes that indicate that the RKBA is not a right, and you responded that I accepted state paperwork for my CCW. Did you mean to make reference to something that isn't a right in a discussion about rights?

Yes, we seem to agree on that aspect.
I do think there is some truth to the "bumper sticker". For instance, two states in the west have recently passed Constitutional Carry laws and over the last three years their murder rate has actually dropped by 0.1%. On the other hand some state statistics would indicate the opposite; Hawaii for instance has a low crime rate and rather strict gun laws.

As you say not simply black and white.

I live in a very small rural town about an hour west of Boston. My town has one stop light and more apple orchids/farm stands than places to eat.
