The big problem with the radical lefts messaging on this, and many other issues, is that is so inaccurate and full of lies and distortions, it should be embarrassing to them to constantly repeat them. But that doesn't seem to matter.

For example, this meme about visa overstays. What their dog whistle sources don't tell them, is within 1 year of the overstay, the vast majority return to their home country. With that fact in hand, it's clear the objective of spreading this meme is to suggest the problem with the border doesn't really exist. Sadly, not a single piece of legitimate data supports that.

Regarding overstays, the radical left uses numbers that include those who might overstay by one day or more, and point to those numbers as being greater than those apprehended at the border. The real issue they hide, is how many remain after their original departure date.

So, the take away in all this stuff is never trust the words of the radical left on these issues. Look up the information yourself so you can learn the truth.

 

It's a reasonable conclusion based on the left's actions, including it's willingness to shut down the US government, rather than do what is necessary to address the emergency on the Southwest Border.

Over one migrant dying a day trying to cross. Migrants bringing in diseases like small pox, drugs which actually do cross the border in unprotected areas, a great way to get into the country from other countries besides middle and south America.

Just out of idle curiosity, do you think Trump should be proud to shut down the government again when he does not get his way?

For three years Donnie talked about a "big, beautiful wall" bought and paid for by the Mexican government. "I would build a great wall, and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me, and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great great wall on our southern border and I’ll have Mexico pay for that wall."

Then, in December, as the shutdown progressed and things got worse and worse for him and the his party, he changed it to a barrier, fence, steel wall, or "whatever you want to call it."

Well, that doesn't work in politics or any other arena. A competent person says what he means and means what he says. Donnie changed his demand and that is a sign of weakness. Observers will hold Trump to the position he held for three years, not the one he has for three months, changed because of duress.

Of course, he knows his position is weak. His own party won't stand by him. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, the leader of Trump's party in Congress, wants Trump to just sign the bipartisan agreement that has been worked out.

Also, Trump made an outrageous campaign promise that could never be kept. His promise was, Mexico would pay for it. That is not going to happen. His campaign promise can't be kept. Nevertheless, Trump insists on making a complete fool of himself by insisting on a medieval wall along our southern border. Yes, he changed his mind again. He is back to his "big, beautiful wall."

"Wall is being built and will be a great achievement and contributor toward life and safety within our Country!" A Trump tweet from Wednesday.

The problem with Trump is one can't trust anything he says. He may say one thing one day, then change his mindthe next day. He been know to have opposing opinions within the same statement. He is a man who lacks conviction.

For example, McConnell has absolutely no idea what Donnie is going to do.

I wrote this two weeks ago.

I think Trump has found a way out of the hole he dug for himself as he realizes he is quickly losing support from Congressional Republicans for his wall. Even McConnell is becoming an obstacle for him. The Senate majority leader is coming out strongly against another shutdown — making it harder for Trump to close the government again.

When the conference committee comes up with a compromise plan that will not fund his wall, Trump will order a national emergency and claim he will get the money from the military budget, bypassing Congress. McConnell is opposed to that as well, but that is beside the point.

What will happen then? Immediately, Trump's EO will end up in the courts. That could take a year or more, and by then the whole issue will be forgotten.

Everybody is happy. Trump is happy because he can tell his loyal, gullible fan base he did all he could. The Democrats are happy because Trump didn't waste any taxpayer money on a medieval wall, and modern technology will be used to secure our border. McConnell and the Republicans are happy because there will not be a second shutdown. They were blamed for the first one, and the last thing they wanted was a repeat performance.

Again, this is what I think will happen.

"I've just had an opportunity to speak with President Trump and he — I would say to all my colleagues — has indicated he is prepared to sign the bill," McConnell said on the Senate floor.

This is the part that is difficult to accept. "He will also be issuing a national-emergency declaration at the same time, and I've indicated to him that I am going to support the national-emergency declaration."

In the past, McConnell has been vehemently opposed to a national-emergency declaration. Once again, the Senator acts like a lackey for Trump. Many of his Republican colleagues are opposed to a national-emergency declaration, so this had to be very embarrassing for him. Why did he back down? The Senate passed the bill with a veto-proof 83-16 vote. The bill is expected to pass the House overwhelmingly. It doesn't matter what Trump said.

Many Senators and Congressmen and women, Republicans and Democrats, are strongly opposed to the emergency declaration because of the horrible precedent that it sets. According to our Constitution, Congress appropriates funds, not the President. According to Trump, if he does not get his way, if future President do not get their way, regarding funding, they can create a national emergency to get the funding. Imagine President Ocassio-Cortez declaring a global warming national emergency.

That's why Republicans do not want Trump to do this.
