Amazon pulls out of plan to build New York City headquarters after backlash

I need Amazon and so did Queens. Capitalism is freedom and I relish it with all my heart.

 

People who speculated on the chickens before the eggs hatch deserve what they got. Driving up prices on the locals if you weren't even planning living there should not be allowed.

I have no idea....I don't know every unemployed persons background. Was Amazon only going to pay people six figures? What about the businesses around the proposed complex? The retail stores etc? It's clear you have little insight into what sort of development a complex like this could have on a community. The folks in Northern Virginia will learn...the residents of NY...missed out again because of leftist economic policies.

It is obvious you are not an educated man. You seem to have a hard time understanding urban renewal. Let me explain it. The city encourages people to renovate a neighborhood. They promised to upgrade the subway and other public amenities. They announced that Amazon was going be coming to this location with thousands of good paying jobs and that would make their investments profitable. People heard this and saw a way to make an honest dollar. Some were rich, others were just Joe Smoos who took a chance on flipping a condo. These people put their trust in the government and the government let them down.

This will hurt the city in the future. People will not be so accepting of their word any more. The next company may say we thought about locating there but the neighbor was too run down. They will notice the reluctance for locals to step up and upgrade the neighborhood.

 

Plus the jobs were for the top earners which means the property value all around it would become prohibitive for the average person living there

 

I hear Wisconsin hands out tax breaks to people “promising” jobs will be created lol

“We are in a dangerous place,” panelist Donny Deutsch agreed. “If people in the party don’t start to speak up against people like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who is young and dynamic but does not know what she’s talking about, they’re going to hand the presidency back to Donald Trump.”

Co-host Mika Brzezinski said Ms. Ocasio-Cortez and other freshman Democrats should do more listening and less talking.
