I will claim to be 1/6400 black so gimme my money.

Will this however, if it becomes popular, mobilize the African-American vote to put the democrats over the top in 2020?

Blacks are already the highest voting percentage demographic in the US but their registered voter numbers are usually very low. Will this drive more of them to register to vote or is it simply the left playing their typical race card again?

I also found this statement to be a completely useless dog whistle: "Scholars estimate that black families earn just over $57 for every $100 earned by white families, according to the Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey" because unless they are seeing that pay discrepancy for doing the exact same jobs that little nugget of trivia is meaningless and only intended to stir up the base and the white-haters.

Interesting that Sanders and Hillary don't support the idea. Does that make them racists, LOL?

I predict the left's 2020 presidential platform will degenerate into blatant vote-buying in the form of "who can promise the most free sh*t".

It should be insulting to free-thinking blacks on several levels. For one, it implies they can't keep up without being given an edge (it's like the basic ideology of affirmative action, on steroids.) It also implies blacks don't care about the issues when voting, they just want more free sh*t ---- like they are simpletons or children.

Slavery is over, done with, eradicated 150+ years ago. Voter pandering liberals and brainwashed apologists just can't get that thru their thick skulls.

Honest question. Where, in any of those quotes, does either woman refer to reparations? I’m not saying they definitely don’t support the idea (I honestly don’t know, that’s why I read the article) but nothing in the content appears to support the assertion in the headline.

It’s also interesting that the article jumps from a strong “they embrace” in the headline to just “they support” in the body. And why can the article only say what “they reportedly” said? Surely the "journalists" checked the primary sources of the information and aren’t just blindly copy-pasting allegations reported elsewhere.

The people who captured and sold their own kind into slavery need to atone for their sins, I mean, in this country we don't punish drug users to the same degree as drug smugglers and dealers, right? So those who captured and sold people need to pay a higher penalty, doing otherwise, and I'm quoting Obama, is not who we are.

So let me get this straight. When libs want to tout the benefits of illegals they point to the illegals who became successful doctors, lawyers, etc. So if an illegal can become successful without the benefit of citizenship, then how is it possible for an entire group who are American citizens not being able to start from the same place or have the same opportunities?

Also, how would reparations improve tomorrow's generation of black victims?

There are certain qualities successful people have along with certain qualities losers have. Take a look at the below picture, it's called the ladder of accountability, and see if it ties into what we see in this country today.

Capitalism coupled with constitutional rights creates opportunity. Minus unforeseeable circumstances, we're free to strive for as much success as we wish.

 

Neither campaign has responded to comments so far — reading their proposals seem to target poorer families and justice reform, not necessarily reparations for only blacks. It’s an extremely unliked proposal by most Americans and would do nothing but hinder their chances, I for one will never vote for someone that pushes broad benefits for any group because of the sufferage of their great great great ancestors.
