WHY ? I mean if it makes you feel good.
BTW ... is this for Art sake or decoration.Like Interior Design.
    I noticed something from a DVD I got yesterday.I thought I'd try
a Sarah Jessica Parker vehicle. No fan of stuff like - Sex and the City -.
This was supposed to be like an American version of a French
Catherine Deneuve vehicle.A lot of sidewalk/street scenes and little
boutique shops.Kinda French avante garde.Parker's Apartment
{ This is N.Y.city at it's most New Yorkish }.was neat.
It was tall yet slim.Like the very wooden staircase was open
on each floor. She had like an Artists studio but it was tall and
not wide, but slender.Kinda neat but also kinda weird. Most Painters
prefer loft style wharehouses with large triangle picture windows.
The most fascinating was from the Great John Barrymore movie.
    - Svengali - { 1931 } where Barrymore plays a sinister Music Maestro.
His living quarters is outrageous.Very plain, simple and twisted.
The thick concrete walls and hallways seem cockeyed and just
sitting in that sparse room could make even John Wayne trip-out.

Somewhat Overkill but very nice.Plus that took a lot of labor.
Bricklayers generally are high paid.Especially in the Big City.
May I recommend a good movie on this topic :
    - Mac - { 1992 } with a good lead by John Turturro of - Barton Fink - fame.
Turturro also thinks - On the Waterfront - is one of the best movies ever made.

Being from Ohio and spending summers at our Summer home
on the Lake { Erie },where in the 60's the Perch were bitin' all the
time. There was a small pier just a football field away from our beach in
front of our summer home.It was better than casting from the beach.
My dad bought an electric scale remover and he'd fry up them perch
in butter on the weekends. There was also a lot of sheepshead which were
not for eating. My Grandpa came out one Saturday and used like 4 fishing poles
off that small wooden pier.He kept the Sheepshead he caught and said they
made great fertilizer.Grandpa spend all afternoon on the pier.He was a
terrific naturalist and huntsman.Had an attic full of stuffed animals he trapped
and shot.Even a huge White Owl.Lots of squirrels and a couple Fox.

    I should qualify the 60's point to mean { early to mid-60's }
By the late 60's Lake Erie was becoming seriously polluted on
account the way the Cuyahoga river in Cleveland had become.
It was so polluted there was a photo taken of a guy crossing it on foot.
He traipsed across on the floating debis { boxes and wood } in crossing.
It also caught fire.It took a near act of Congress to clean up that
    Cuyahoga river.But it got done.

That might have held true in and around Cleveland, but not
farther west. The closer one came to Cedar Point { once considered a Great
vacation spot and Amusement Park } the pollution was never an issue.
As far as dead fish on the beaches off Lake Erie. That is true.
Because as the Shallowest of the Great Lakes it has the biggest wave action.
Many a huge Freighter has gone down in Lake Erie over the last couple century.
Lake Erie regularly has 3-6 ft. waves throughout the summer. That is why Breakwalls
are necessary. We have went thru 3 breakwalls at our Summer home since the
60's.A typical breakwall is rebar reinforced concrete slabs about 2 foot thick.

Its beautiful! I really like how the stone was incorporated with the brick. It doesn't look so brick formal. It looks inviting.
    Did you do that?

Sometimes the thought that goes into drawing or painting for me is over the top. Im doing a painting on slate and have been over thinking it. So I took a break to do something with instant gratification and low thought input lol. I also want to get good at that technique because I want to do a large pour on canvas to hang in the livingroom.
This summer my inside the house goal is paint the bottom floor. We decided on a light grey for the livingroom. I want to do the large pour in shades of black, grey, white and copper. Maybe a two person pour and a canvas so big both of us will have to work it. This way we make a memory and a piece of art to hang.

Your Grandpa sounds like he was a cool guy.

Years ago I went fishing with a few friends. One of our friends had a boat. We go out with a few poles, bait and a cooler full of beer. Lines in the water and the pole bent to what seemed like a breaking point. Everyone is near the side of the boat waiting to see what it was and I yelled out, OH MY GOD! IT'S A ****ING BODY!
I couldn't see what it was. It wasn't reeled up far enough at that point lol. Everyone got scared, panicked and scattered to the other side of the boat. I reeled it in and it was 2 horseshoe crabs stuck together.
