What about that public? Why should the public have to accommodate drug and alcohol abusers. Why does the public have to give up their decent lives for the accommodation of others?

Public toilets were installed several years ago in Skidrow. Mobile toilets are also distributed around encampments.

So you consider 'modern times' bending over backwards, and paying out more in taxes. to support people with addiction problems, who apparently aren't trying to address them?

Fantastic! People, living in makeshift tents on our sidewalks, have toilets provided for them.

Where do the people, who aren't addicted, go to live?

I'll agree, to a limited point, about the 'war on drugs'. If someone refuses to get help, then they have made their decision.

Other people should not have to monetarily support that decision. Making their lives 'comfortable' on the streets, while it sounds all warm and fluffy, comes at an expense. I support myself, and have no need to support those who actively choose not to support themselves.

How do you know they're addicted? 100 percent of them? Or is that another Trumper fantasy? I know you people don't get out much, but in Paris the public toilets are about 50 cents and they're cleaned on a regular basis. The one I saw was spotless. This concept is beyond Republican thinking, however. They can't build anything, not even their medieval wall on our southern border.

That is happening. Communities are being turned into sewers and the residents, who can, are fleeing.

Not true. Keep in mind that these tents/ encampments are basically scattered around. But, of-course having people live on the sidewalk in front of homes is ultimately unacceptable. The tents/ sleeping bags must be moved away from the entrance of businesses during the day.

Sell that idea to the public. Tell them: Hey, we're going to make your life even worse. We're going to attract even more addicts and crime and you're going to pay for it.

Who cares what the percentage of addicts is? Enforce vagrancy laws and establish work farms. Problem solved.

Pathetic how you bring up Republicans when we are talking about a city run by liberal Dimocraps.

I don't scream MAGA or buy into your false two party dichotomy. But it would be nice to go back to a time when liberal cities didn't have swarms of mind damaged people defecating in the street.

Sure, but it is a commodity that people like and want to imbibe. Prohibition creates an artificial shortage of supply for a product that people demand. That raises prices and organized crime moves in because they are the only ones left with the will and means to supply that demand - and then profits soar and criminal elements compete ruthlessly to reap those profits.

There are a lot of things that have a downside on society. Have we ever considered how we have created a world that in so non-inclusive that people need to blot out reality with substances rather than engage in the world.

Addiction is a symptom of social isolation and despair.
