Trumped erred in walking back the chant from the crowd. It was the crowd's chant, not Trump's chant, and the crowd can chant what they feel like chanting, this is America isn't it? I felt the chant was quite appropriate for the time and setting in which it was done, compared to the baseless name-calling spew tossed at conservatives day-in and day-out, without reason; and the spew thrown out by Omar herself.

In fact, the more we learn about Omar, the more we find that she may have obtained her citizenship fraudulently. She may actually have to be sent back.

 

When the far right can only compare Trump as the same as Obama or Clinton, they don't understand they have failed.

Trump is no better, probably worse, and will be gone in January 2021.

The strategy here is nothing short of spectacular. At a time when 23 Democrats are trying to win their party's nomination Pres Trump has the political intrigue of nearly the entire nation focused on a few very radical, very problematic, and very vulnerable Democrats. At a point when political parties are at the weakest (primary infighting season) Pres Trump has poured an entire tanker of gas on the fire that is the struggling DNC.

He calls out a group of radicals for hating America forcing them to demonstrate otherwise (which they don't). He subtlety drops hints about Rep Omar's alleged criminal immigration history and the media goes a-buzz with the typical prescribed punishment: deportation. The send her back chant which followed wasn't just a chant it was the right-wing rallying behind the President against a singular enemy: those who hate America, personified in this case by "the squad". But then Pres Trump takes a step back from it allowing a simple and instant defense each time it's used against him in the future.

The end result is that rather than Democrats looking at their own leadership they're focused yet again on Trump. Rather than media covering the platforms of the 23 candidates they're focused yet again on Trump. Donald Trump once again dominates all political discourse good or bad, right or left, day or night. The harder that Democrats harp on this the more voters will question why loving America is such a bad thing. The President is absolutely crushing the fundraising game but at this rate he wont need to spend a penny of it because the Democrats will (once again) devote every moment of every day to anything and everything TRUMP.

Well he has already changed position on this issue, and I wouldn't be surprised of he changed back in the near future, but hardly a man of leadership, let alone by example.

Yes, unfortunately we have a petulant child for POTUS. Some Republicans have said it is wrong, hopefully even more will be reasonable and try to stop the immature rants, or at least denounce them.

I agree with your position on the chant. I'm glad though, that Trump also walked-back his walk-back, because if he hadn't, it would have soured the support he got from the crowd; and that's a crowd you don't want to sour on you.
