Trump did it to draw attention to the rest of Europe not paying their fair share. The president of Ukraine backed that up. I understand it has since been paid. The phone call happened back in July.

It doesn't take much to push a dem over the edge. Lately they seem to be rather loosely strung.

Trump repeatedly pushed for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate a potential 2020 political rival, Joe Biden, and his son, Hunter, during a July 25 phone call, according to a transcript of the conversation released by the White House.

Trump also asked the Ukrainian leader to work with his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, and US Attorney General William Barr on the issue, the call transcript reveals.

"There's a lot of talk about Biden's son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it ... It sounds horrible to me," Trump says, according to the document.

"The fact is that the President of the United States, in breach of his constitutional responsibilities, has asked a foreign government to help him in his political campaign at the expense of our national security, as well as undermining the integrity of our elections," she said after the transcript was released Wednesday. "That cannot stand. He will be held accountable. No one is above the law."

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff told reporters Wednesday that the President's message to the Ukrainian President was clear, despite some debate over whether there was quid pro quo.

"There is no quid pro quo necessary to betray your country or your oath of office. Even though many read this as a quid pro quo. I'm not concerned whether it is a quid pro quo or not. Ukraine understood what this President wanted," the California Democrat said.

That said, the fact that Trump held up the military aid five days before the phone call is highly suspicious.

Does anyone expect Trump come out and say, "Mr. President, I am extorting you. Do as I ask or you will never see that military aid?"

Oddly...the European nations are collectively funding Ukraine at three times the rate that we are.

Odd that Trump would complain about something so completely false huh?

The reason he wasn't explicit was he knew the conversation would be reviewed. Something that reveals how important it is for any prez not to be allowed to completely staff his admin with lackeys...............though goodness knows the Orange Fraud has tried.

It was the Pres. of Ukraine that first brought up Rudy not Trump.

"Several Senate Republicans were stunned Wednesday and questioned the White House’s judgment after it released a rough transcript of President Trump’s call with the Ukraine president that showed Trump offering the help of the U.S. attorney general to investigate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.

One Senate Republican, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to speak candidly, said the transcript’s release was a “huge mistake” that the GOP now has to confront, even as they argue that House Democrats are overreaching with their impeachment effort."

Where's the proof he withheld the aid to coerce them? And you said he had nothing to do with the aide, it was Congress, but yet Trump can withhold it?

    Obama's Ukraine policy in shambles
Distracted by ISIL, frustrated by infighting in Kyiv, the administration makes little progress against Putin in Europe.

President Barack Obama’s effort to rescue Ukraine from Russia’s military grip has stalled, and turmoil inside Ukraine's government may hand Russian President Vladimir Putin a victory in a conflict that Obama has said involves "the most basic principles of our international system.”

Two years after the pro-western protests that toppled Kyiv’s government, enraged Putin, and caused an international crisis, Obama’s Ukraine policy is foundering — the victim of Putin’s steely determination, the distractions of Syria and ISIL, and wavering support from European allies eager to move past the conflict.

Despite personal pleas from Vice President Joe Biden, U.S. officials fear that Kyiv's leaders are near a political implosion that would derail efforts to stabilize the country and eject Russia from its eastern territories.

That's right. Congress authorized the aid but Trump blocked it so he could use it as leverage to blackmail Ukraine. I think you need a new news source.

I think you need a news source to back that up. I see you edited out the article about how Obama's Ukraine policies were such a failure.

    Been there, done that.

WASHINGTON ― A bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers is pressuring the Trump administration to release $250 million in military aid to Ukraine.
In a letter sent Tuesday to acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, the leaders of the Senate’s bipartisan Ukraine Caucus expressed “deep concerns” as the Trump administration evaluates the aid package.

Do Trumpette's understand this is going to get worse when the whistleblower complaint is released and if the whole transcript of the phone call is released?

None of that proves it was an attempt to get Joe, so to speak. Obama really sucked on his Ukraine policy. Go ahead, edit that out for the third time.

We're past that now. The incomplete transcript has been released. We know he was bribing Zelensky. Whataboutisms deflecting to Obama is just kinda......well.........pathetically desperate. But I suspect you knew that.
