A comedian mocking a man who is upset because a gynecologist did not want to give him a pelvic exam. Seems to me this situation is ripe for mocking. I am curious do you know what a gynecologist is and why many people would fine this extremely fun and make jokes about this.
To be fair if one studies science and biology one will realize that homosexuality exists across the animal kingdom. Animals just don't need surgery to express it. They work with what they have.
No-one is dissing homosexuals. This guy is a predator and I couldn't care if he is hetero, gay or a eunuch he is still a predator and dangerous to others.
You appeared to be presenting the intimate waxing aspect as "forcing young girls to fondle" but if that was an accurate representation, wouldn't the gender of the customer be largely irrelevant in the grand scale of things. I'm in no way supporting this individual activist but your knee-jerk rhetoric is simply wrong all the same.
No it wouldn't waxing testicles is probably very different than waxing Libya. In fact I think that was the contention.
There was nothing in the phrase "forcing young girls to fondle" to indicate the objection was a practical one, only a moral one.
I think that's probably just hyperbole because the scumbag that was suing is such a scumbag. Please tell me you don't want that to represent transgenderism
Oh, it certainly was. It's still wrong and counterproductive to any reasonable response. Not that it's my call, but it's fairly clear that they shouldn't and don't. This specific case is entirely individual and isolated.
not all of us can be Ricky gervais. Yeah which is why transgender people should be cheering on Ricky gervais and joining in on the laughter. Mockery is appropriate especially with this particular scumbag.
I certainly hope not. We’re all capable of being so much better (remember that his only interest in this is self-promotion). That’s why I challenged the posters flawed rhetoric in the first place. In theory yes, but I don’t think they’re at a point where that is viable yet. I don’t think a lot of people who would laugh at his comments (and other leading from it) will be focused on the individual it’s about but will see it as a generic condemnation of all transgender people. I don’t think that throwaway jokes alone are a constructive response to this individual and their various “campaigning”. Comedy can certainly help as an approach to difficult issues but not as the only approach and not when there are a variety of often questionable ulterior motives behind it. Expecting transgender people to laugh with Gervais is unfair. He should be laughing with them but to do that, he’d have to know them as people rather than just another subject for his comedy routines.
he's a comedian, he makes jokes. So what? So no sense of humor? you don't have to know people to laugh at their jokes. I don't think you know what comedy is.
If you don't see a problem in actively encouraging an approach that will increase generic condemnation of all transgender people we're in entirely different positions here.
me too. You also might want to check out his most recent TV show called afterlife it's on Netflix. It's actually a bit serious and depressing but his natural comedy still comes through at times.
This was unnecessary. Clearly it said bollocks. It’s not as if buttocks is all that different from a glance. Geesh outrage much?
Oh I agree. Saying someone has a mental illness is not a judgement of their character, and certainly not all mental illnesses are the same. Eating disorders are mental illnesses as much as schizophrenia is a mental illness. The point is....transgenderism is a mental illness. If you think you're a woman but you have a penis....your mind is not processing reality correctly. I'm not saying this is their fault....but encouraging a mental illness does not help the person afflicted. If you think you're a mermaid, throwing you into the ocean isn't solving the problem.
I watched Humanity last nigh... probably due to this thread... thanks I'll take a look at "afterlife"
"The Ricky Gervais Show" is awesome, once you get used to the cartoon format (it was originally for radio podcast).
