They were about to invoke a treaty to investigate criminal matters. The President is the one who direct foreign policy and had plenary power and is also the chief law enforcement officer. Of course he can speak to the head of the other country with which we have that treaty. That you don't like that he did and think he could have done different is not an impeachable offense. Had he done different what difference would that have made? And we STILL need a full investigation into the Biden/Burisma scandal.
You're welcome. And yeah, Trump is definitely not politically savvy. And whether or not he was advised for or against is immaterial to me. Common sense to me would have been to go talk to the DoJ before doing anything. You have a question on whether or not a law was broke? You go to the police. It's common sense. So I wont' give Trump a pass on that. Unless the DoJ advised him to do this, then I'd have questions and might give Trump a pass.
Well. You have to admit they did get into reasonable proximity this time. They just did't have any evidence, or...a case at all...
The abused the power of impeachment, they did not impeach the president to remove him they did so to use it to influence the 2020 election. May not be "illegal" but was it right?
Nope, not right at all. Like I said, this whole thing has been done wrong from the very beginning... to the very end. You do realize that I'm a Trump supporter right? That I'm not hating on Trump by anything that I have said in this thread? That I am simply acknowledging that wrong was done, on both sides. Is that a bad thing?
Absolutely This whole farce was nothing more than (poorly) disguised election tampering. I think most everyone gets that at this point.
75%..........75%..........75%............75%............Thats the number of Americans who wanted witness’. So who again will be sorry ?
I have a ton of things to get done tonight, so let me just wish everyone a Happy Acquittal Day once again! We knew it as inevitable, but still sweet! There's just no stopping the Trump Train!
JFC......you always leave out the part about the extortion, and what he wanted. This had NOTHING to do with “investigating corruption”. Hell, even his legal team said that. They admitted he did it.
There was no extortion and none charged. And no his team did not say that. They presented the House Managers OWN STATEMENTS about the corruption and concerns of it and Hunter Biden SPECIFICALLY.
First it's not a legal process so the President has not legal protections then it is a legal process and he subverted it. Ya'll can't even get your bogus arguments straight. And read my sig......
There were 13......13.......13.......13.......13.......13.......13......13.......13......13......13.......13.......13........13.......13........13.....witnesses. 10......10.......10.......10.......10.......10.......10.....more than in the Clinton trial. Stop with the phony canard there were no witnesses and the "just one more witness, yea that's the ticket, this one is REALLY REALLY it, we got him this time, just you wait" we've been hearing from you guts for over 3 years.
Oh wow. A single exception from a non-party. Well, that changes...nothing. Trying to pretend that impeachment wasn't partisan in the first place just makes Democrats look even more dishonest. You need votes from both parties in order to be bipartisan, and no, independents don't count. But that is just a distraction from the real issue, anyway. You're talking about the final vote in the House, but the process had been purely partisan long before the full House voted on anything. You can't come along after the fact and be like, "but an independent voted for impeachment" (after being presented only with a completely one-sided narrative, which excluded Republican congressmen and the president from the process, produced by Democrat committee chairs)
This means that the vote for removal is Bipartisan. Romney is also the first Senator in US history to vote for the removal of a President from his own party. The fact that Democrats were unanimous against Trump is also a first in US history. In every previous Senate impeachment trial against a President, at least a few Senators from the opposing party voted for acquittal.
Is he the first POTUS who approval rating peaked during his impeachment? That seems like it might be a relevant fact in the overall picture right?
Yes that is true, and it will be forever known that this was this biggest sham of an impeachment that made a joke of the Democratic Party and will assure Trump's reelection!
