Looks Like Alex Jones Was Right After All

During the early days of Alex Jones, he used to talk a lot about the creation of "prison planet" by the ruling classes.

Naturally, everyone accused him of being crazy.

Yet here we are. The planet is now a prison. That it functions as an open-air prison does change the fact.

The only place where people are still living semi-normal lives is Sweden. Every other country in the world are living like glorified prisoners, waiting for permission from the government to return to normality.

Granted, it's a pretty cushy prison. Things could be a lot worse. Yet it is a prison nonetheless.

I'm sure someone will beg the MODS to censor this thread for merely mentioning Alex Jones even though I'm just posting my POLITICAL OPINION in the POLITICAL OPINION subforum.

 

Arguing that we are all prisoners now is similar to claiming that the vast majority of us are living as wage slaves. Both claims contain a kernel of truth, but are pretty wild exaggerations.

If you think the current rules are permanent, you're overly pessimistic. That clearly won't happen. Almost no one wants that. Personally, I prefer to relax and stop worrying.

By the way, Earth has always been a prison. Less than a thousand people ever got away. Only 24 made it beyond low earth orbit.

 

And none of them were gone for more than a few months. Be that as it may, while I hope your right, the party of never let a crisis go to waste and the administrative state in this country have clearly been moving in the direction of the OP's fears for sometime now and based on the abject terror of this germ expressed in this board there are way too many who would cheerfully turn over their personal liberty for a guilded prison if it means they can be safe from this 'terrifying' menace.

 

I heard a similar argument years ago. It was made by middle school students who were forced to go to school.

 

Of course, such a situation can be used to push for universal healthcare. On the other side, there was a proposal to let states go bankrupt in order to cut public pensions.

Whatever your political beliefs are, you would be stupid not to try using this crisis to your advantage. That's normal. In an ideal world, there would be a productive public discussion about what our priorities are and a continuous effort to find a reasonable way forward. Unreasonable proposals would be stopped by sound counter-arguments. Unfortunately, that's not how this usually works out due to no one being willing to listen. Shouting is much easier.

 

People want to return to the freedom of being wage slaves.

 

And the resolution of the argument was what? I assume there were several threads there. 1) Individual liberty was being ignored because the state required attendance.. 2) The natural rights of self determination were being ignored. 3) The state has an interest in educated members 4) The state has hired and invested in substantial infrastructure that requires attendance to justify the expense...

There are many possibilities here. The more I watch the conversations, the more I see folks unwilling to understand that actually, and most of the times, the choices of others don't actually impact you. More, their choices are theirs, but there do seem to be a whole lot of folks who demand that others align with their choices, not their own.

 

You shouldn't be on line.
It requires electricity and and infrastructure that other people have to provide for you, putting their lives in grave danger so you can enjoy them.
And stay home when you get sick. Don't put healthcare workers at risk. Be a good distancer and sit in your home, in the dark, with no heat or AC, hungry.

True to some extent but with or without covid many state and cities are in dire straits because of under funded pension programs. Holding the rest of the country liable for unrealistic promises made by elected officials to their union employees, often in exchange for campaign contributions and other forms of election support, should not be done.

 

Just try force on this lockdown.

I am not forcing anything. I don't have the power to use force and you don't legally have that power either. Both of us do however have the right to have an opinion.

 

The lockdowns are the new normal Democrats want to manage our decline into.

These lockdowns are a taste of what voting for Democrats and the neo communist takeover they represent will bring.

Democrats say we can't reopen till we have a vaccine and it is safe. The truth is we may never have a vaccine and these lockdowns may never end.

Democrats even talk about doing similar lockdowns for the climate emergency they want to declare.

What should be telling to any American paying attention is that Democrats delight in taking people's liberties. They get a thrill out of filling skate parks with sand and closing beaches. Meanwhile they release pedophiles and ignore homeless junkies camping on the sidewalks shooting up.

Truth. If you look at the many "solutions" to climate, most of them that have been advanced by liberal folk involve forcing the population into densely packed cities where power can be "managed" and freedom of movement 'limited". Just like China. Oh, and you must take the public's ability to defend themselves from the tyranny of government away from them. And who cares as long as government gives you free stuff.... yes, this is the direction of the NDP.

 

When your job is to fabricate hundreds of conspiracy theories, it is statistically possible that one of them will come true.

 

Those protesting in the streets over this shelter in place temporary order are basically just a 5 year-old having a tantrum
in the aisle of the toy store.

Their entire life, they have been beneficiaries of the collective social agreement that is their government - their raw goods are brought to them over Federally funded highways and sea ports and airports. Their healthcare is brought to them by
the educations of doctors at Federally supported universities and trade schools. Their children are educated in schools supported
by collective funds - which frees their time up to work their jobs. Their clients use money to pay them that they received through
government contracts or government programs.

And when their government finally asks them to "hold on for a few months while we reset things ..." they wail and rend their
clothing and pretend their freedom is gone forever ... "Mom, I'll NEVER get that toy unless I buy it NOW ...".

As JFK said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, lay down in the aisle and have a tantrum instead ...".

 

Tell me... when will it be safe to reopen?

 

LOL... Actually, he said, ask what you can do for your country, and these folks clearly are doing that. Of course you don't like folks questioning your authority.... And because they are politely and peacefully protesting as opposed to rioting and looting and burning their neighborhoods down, you cannot allow that to happen. You certainly make a good point, but truth be told, things have not been bad in Florida. Now in phase 1 of the reopening, it's starting to seem close to normal again, especially with the beaches open.

 

Democrats love the lockdown. It is everything they ever wanted. They have dreamed of this for years.
