1st neocons, like Democrats have no principles beyond a narrow grasping at power. Nether should ever be allowed to lay hand to it again. For both have shown they can't be trusted with it.

Pretty sure I said I don't see a third party as an option.

I'm willing to wait it out. Demographics and right are on my side. To paraphrase Bohr...

"In 50 years we'll both be dead but I'll still be right."

I'm really hoping for a rise of a fiscally conservative/socially progressive party.
The two parties we have now are like the Hatfields and the McCoys - too much history and bad blood for any
type of useful compromise. We need a viable third party to act as buffer.

Well said but I do disagree.

The primary process is driven by a very narrow portion of the electorate. Over the last 10 years Reactionaries have used this process to eliminate almost anyone who could be called "mainstream" or moderate from elected office and driven those who remain so far to the right they cannot reasonably return without displaying an incredible level of cynicism.

In 2024 the process will not change. In fact, if anything, the Reactionaries will blame the moderates for the crushing they receive in 2020 and try to push the party further and further right. Just as it did with Romney in 2012. The Santorums and Huckabees forced Romney so far right in the primaries he could not recover. The same thing happened to Trump. He lost the election by more than 3M votes with the vaguries of the EC putting him in the White House.

If Republicans like Romney can wrest control from the reactionaries, you may be right. I just don't see that happening.

One enduring liberal fallacy is a leftist claiming to understand business. Fallacy? Try fundamental core doctrine. As in the same level of belief that leftists have which states grabbing someone else's money is good and decent if you're Bernie Sanders with five mansions, but ugly as hell if you're flipping burgers at minimum wage, paying off your ethnic studies loans.

Resentment drives liberals. Too bad they can't resent doddering Nancy Pelosi or other Democrat troglodytes whose obstinate ways keep AOC and her posse from seizing true House power. Liberals snivel about the aging GOP leadership while ignoring their own pterodactyls flying overhead.

Aside from spending money, what precisely does the government do better than someone in business? Since when is earning an honest living some sort of wrong? How black business owners expect to serve black communities when the fools DON'T CARE about their own people and take that sort of action?

I have watched business and government for more than 50 years. My father successfully owned and ran three businesses which also kept five employees' families fed along with my own. Business is hard work. It is not the oppressive enemy lazy ignorant leftists pretend.

You absolutely, positively cannot prove your assertion above.

Business streamlines and improves its entire operation to maximize legitimate profits. Without the need to save we wind up with NASA unable to design a new spacesuit for the last 40 years while some super-snazzy NASA astronauts got the Cadillac ride AT HALF PRICE. Go figure.

Well, the Loonytoonians are anarchists in their Sunday best and the hair-on-fire bats*** crazy howlers backing Antifa will probably do a Eugene Debs and run for office from jail...so what d'you suggest? Curtis Sliwa and the Guardian Angels...with howitzers? Maybe we should all go vote Zen Druid and our candidate is a tree which isn't there. Old Leafy would outpace Groper on mobility and would surely be smarter.

I really don't think the Republicans have gone "reactionary" or "far right". I actually think the Republicans have, in large part, stayed true to typical republicanism on a policy level.

I think what feeds that perception of "reactionary" or "far right" is Trump's personality. His incessant combativeness and personal attacks feeds that perception. It contributes to "Trump fatigue", and will be the reason he won't be reelected. But, if you forget about his personality and look strictly at what he has done on a policy level, it's pretty much just mainstream conservatism - lower taxes, deregulation, border security, support for the 2nd Amendment, conservative judges, law and order, etc, etc.

So I think the Republicans could pretty much hold to their conservative positions but package them in a polite, likable candidate and do pretty well.

Republicans and Democrats will vote predictably. The swing states, and the independent voters in those states, decide our elections. It all hinges on them.

The Republican party has been split between what can be loosely defined as the establishment wing and the true conservative wing since about 2010. The conservatives were always the weaker -- even though they were responsible for taking back the House -- but got stronger with Trump mainly because much of the establishment wing could not fathom Trump's draining the swamp since many were charter members. When Trump is no longer president, unless the conservatives continue to increase their power and influence -- and they very well might, the establishment will regain their power and concentrate mostly on quelling conservative thought ala Boehner, and making nice with Democrats.

I think in any case, the GOP will band together (even though there will be plenty of infighting) as the Democrat Party shifts further and further to the social progressive extreme.

The way I see it, there will be just as much infighting within the Right as there will be on the Left. Much of this fighting/tension both sides will try to keep invisible.

I didn't say said "far right" I said "reactionary" which is far right on steroids and taking PCP by the quart.

    Dude!
The President of the US is retweeting Q-ANON and Russian conspiracy theories and it is being retweeted and reprted on as fact by RW media.
The President of the US just used force on peaceful protesters denying them their 1st rights and his action is supported by Republicans.
The President of the US has called for the use of military force to put down protests. Again supported by his base.

    Not reactionary?

It is this inability of Trumpsters to truly evaluate their positions in relation to the rest of the country that has been and will continue to be their downfall. Because regardless of the issue, they view their positions as a culture war, and refuse to acknowledge their defeat in that endeavor.

(*cue the harmonica and kazoo player*)

AGAIN: What do you suggest? What was that letter combination again? Some stomach remedy or a cure for last night's excesses?

And who's this "us," anyway? Some frenzied clutch of pimple-pickers in onesies, or Furries For Joe? (*shudder*)

It'll be the same as it was before Trump. Just will a little more spine.. It still has the it's libertarian and moderate strains and a lot of the policies Trump has pursued are the same ones the congress and past administrations have pursued for decades. The policies are the same. The delivery is a bit different.

A bit? Ya think? He's probably got half of them puking into wastebaskets thinking of what is out there with their fingerprints on it and what happens when Trump reveals it. It's so glorious I wanna see a movie of the sentencing.

How quiet some loudmouths now are! Adam Schiff? Where's HIS mug grabbing camera time? Down in some flystained plastic surgeon's office in Puerto Lumbago getting a new face? I'd donate if he stays gone.

Mueller? .....MUELLER? Parachuted elsewhere. This is to grieve. He would make a marvelous school zone speed bump for failing his Democrat masters in such a fine and well-documented way. (/not ending sarcasm)

See everybody at the show trials. Democrats were involved and it's 2020 with the Donks facing 45-0.

If he wins and I can't see him losing unless he tanks the economy the next four years will be worse than the last four in terms of investigations and nightly "bombshells" on CNN about Trump colluding with Lichtenstein. He's guaranteed at least one more SCOTUS pick and the democrats behavior will probably kill their chances in 2024.

After Trump, we continue to fight socialism, communism, and any other ideology that runs contrary to American values.

I expect that things will continue as they have. We'll keep dying off and keep being replaced by totally indoctrinated leftist nutjobs. Rainbows and unicorns will prevail until some communist dictator gains power and enslaves all of the useful idiots.

I imagine it'll be like the Obama years, except they'll be even more off-the-wall with their conspiracy theories and fever dreams.

    Is this a joke?

They don't need no stinkin' proof.

They make it all up. We know this.

You can prove their claims false six ways.

Tomorrow, they'll be back spouting he exact same nonsense.
