Officer killed in the line of duty. It's tragic. Black man killed for passing a counterfeit $20. Also tragic.
Before we can even have this conversation you need to learn about what is being suggested as 'defunding'. Clue - it doesn't mean getting rid of police.
Whatever it means, if it results in many more black deaths from criminal activity than it saves from police brutality would you still be in favor of it? This is the third time I asked, so I won't ask again. You only have to duck the question one more time.
I agree. Thugs should cease being thugs and stop with all the drug usage and mugging and killing innocent citizens. I know . . . let's protest against human nature. That'll fix everything.
Perhaps you want to think about the ridiculousness of the question you keep asking. And if you look back, you'll see that I have said all deaths would be tragic.
Winner, winner, democrat playbook dinner. 100% correct. A handful of days from now it will be something else. One political party continues to be joyless, perpetually angry and lost. They are already attempting to push the second and third waves of the Chinese virus. Sad lot. Dust off your mask? F no, that ship has sailed.
How many have to die to balance justice for the universally condemned criminal actions of one? On one hand, there are those that suggest people shouldn’t be judged or treated unequally for the color of their skin, but then advocate sweeping judgement of those wearing the color blue, even to the point of acceptable harm.... how is one wrong corrected by another?
what is confusing? I state color should mean nothing and explain it’s just about pigment and that white/white, black/black, black/white should be all the same. This is entirely consistent in messaging. The point is those who i criticize, color is everything to them... one white cop kills 1 black man (with a long criminal record) and the country is set ablaze. 7k blacks get killed by blacks and no-one protests or riots. Yeah, this is why the protestors never achieve anything, it comes across as projecting racism and disingenuous. now it may be true that most protestors are peaceful but those rioting, looting, bringing down statues, attacking cops and even claiming they have taken control of part of a city ( as we have seen in seattle) are not a few, there are many. Far more than you are willing to accept.. this only reflects poorly on them and counter to their message, what we many will feel is, if anything, those people need more policing. Calls to defund the police also diminishes their message, it is clear that the gaol is not be policed and be free to commit crime without consequences.
Excuse me? What are you talking about? Sweeping judgement? Cops have an ENORMOUS power of the rest of society. No excuses can be made for actions such as we have witnessed
I’m more concerned about cops being murdered. That happens much more frequently than innocent blacks being killed by police.
Police are limited by law as are we all. But, just as not all breakers of the law are caught and made to face the consequences of their actions, not all those among the police committing crime are caught and made to face the consequences of their actions. But, because a few in society break the law does that condemn all of society? Because a few cops break the law, does that condemn all that are serving in LE? I know of no one that has seen the videos of the cop’s actions in MN that hasn’t found those actions horrible and deplorable on the part of the cop and that don’t think he should face his day in court to face the consequences of his actions. Nor do I think had the variable of race not been a factor would anyone not reach the same conclusion. But do I think the ensuing violence projected on businesses, and innocent victims in communities across the Country justified? In my opinion, no, and further, I think the unintended consequence will be contrary to promoting unity and the easing of racial tensions in the Country and is in fact, increasing the divisiveness that has already become an obstacle to achieving the aspirations of the majority of Americans. I don’t know how many remember the Band Buffalo Springfield, but their song ‘for What it’s worth’ is as relevant now as then. There is one particular line that has huge relevance in these days of division; “There's battle lines being drawn Nobody's right if everybody's wrong” Sadly, we’ve learned little over the last 50 years...
Save us the esoteric bullshit Cops killing citizens is not and should not be acceptable. And the bullying that many of them engage in that leads TO those kids of actions are JUST as unacceptable. Far too often they are above the law...and that needs to end Spin all you want. That's the way it is
You think you having a gun is going to keep you safe from a cop? If you do you'll likely get yourself killed. He has the force of the government (not to mention a bullet proof vest) in his favor
There are no spins, just questions? I would agree cops killing citizens is not acceptable unless the citizen is an immediate and direct threat to others. I doubt few cops would disagree. Why would you think it would be acceptable to who? As for the bullying, is that a universal attribute of cops or a generalization? Aside from the fact that no one is above the law in this country, why would you make the generalization that far too often they are?
Good. End of story George was no threat. The guy in Oklahoma was no threat. Tamir Rice was no threat Eric Garner was no threat.Phillandro Castille was no threat and on and on
Yes there have been such instances, but there have been many where cops put their lives on the line to save those of others. Should cops be held to the same law as the rest of us? Yes. But, do the actions of a few justify vilifying all the others? Should the violent criminal actions of some of those embedded with all those intending peacefully protesting the death in MN? No. But, the urge to use one, the criminal killing of Floyd Georg, to justify the other violence in the streets, burning businesses and victimizing other innocent, does nothing but set up a spiral justification and demonization that is nothing more than an escalating cycle vengeance...everybody looses except those that use the chaos to shield their own profiting from victimizing everyone else. And... nothing gets resolved... except we learn who the enemy is; ...them people. Us and them... the words that justify anything.
Floyd was a life criminal, he once robbed a pregnant woman at gun point. It is despicable how he has gotten all this attention as if he was some sort of hero. He had a long criminal record.. on drugs, resisted arrest (yes, that is known). Even scumbags like floyd should not have died like he did, no question that cop was an animal, how he kept his knee on floyd’s neck, even after floyd had stopped moving but justice will be served, floyd will get justice. But the way he has been eulogized, all this attention, yet real good people like retired police captain of st loius, gunned down by a thug.. no attention by liberals. 18 murders in one day, a couple of days ago, in chicago, some of the victims really innocent and young. Floyd, with all that criminal resume, is a hero.. all these people mean nothing to you, it seems. Eric garner, tamir rice... just a few... yet the 7 thousand gunned by blacks, we don’t talk about that. You scour the internet for the rare black person killed by cops but you don’t do the same for cops killed or the thousands gunned down by criminals.
