Well if you were familiar, you wouldn't have made your initial statement that he 'offered' assistance. And no thoughts on a leader who is only too happy to watch the blue states in the country fall apart? Is he only the POTUS for red states? We're talking about sowing the seeds of division - I think that makes the case for it - don't you?

A "red" mayor/governor might have asked for help if they couldn't maintain law and order in their own cities/states. The very fine people of Seattle voted for a far-left mayor and city council. They are getting the government leadership they selected at a local level. If Durkin doesn't want federal assistance and the people of Seattle aren't happy, they need to recall her. That's democracy, neither "red" or "blue". Elections have consequences and voters have the most control over the government they get closest to home rather than at a national level.

Thanks for the civics lesson. But it doesn't address the question I posed about the appropriateness of a POTUS lying about 'offering' assistance and then going on to make fun of a 'blue' state. Trump should really stop addressing the 'American people' and just be honest - he should be addressing republicans, or his supporters.

It is a shame that we've had two president's in a row who only talked to half the country. I didn't vote for Trump, but he appears to be the "anitdote" to a divisive Obama, the equal and opposite reaction of physics. Obama only talked to "blue", and created the racial divide the country is seeing right now.

I asked another posters to show some video clips of Obama being divisive. Nothing. So how about you? Anything you can show us to prove your claim of Obama's divisiveness?

He sent White House aids to the funeral of Mike Brown, the thug who tried to rob a store and then try to kill a cop.

    How is that not divisive?

Okay - so he sends one person who knew the victims mother and another who was the head of My Brother's Keeper task force - both understandable. I can grant you that the third Aid wasn't necessary. But if you are trying to suggest that Obama never showed respect to the police of this country, read through these remarks. Tell me if Trump has ever been as generous with comments about the police.

May 7, 2010: Presidential proclamation for Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week.

"As a nation, we rely on law enforcement officers to keep our neighborhoods safe, enforce our laws, and respond in times of crisis. These men and women sustain peace and order across America, and we look to them as models of courage and integrity. This week, we honor their extraordinary service and sacrifice, and we remember the fallen heroes whose selfless acts have left behind safer streets and stronger communities."

May 15, 2010: Presidential remarks at the National Peace Officers' Memorial.

    Excerpt from Obama’s remarks:

"To the survivors of fallen law enforcement officers, our hearts go out to you for your loss. The husbands and wives, mothers and fathers you loved, they protected us all. And all Americans are grateful for the lives that they gave in the line of duty."

May 12, 2011: Presidential remarks at a White House Rose Garden ceremony honoring National Association of Police Organizations "Top Cops"

    Excerpt from Obama’s remarks:

"Tomorrow we know that you and your fellow first responders will be back on your diligent duty -- looking out for us, looking out for one another, looking back at times with fallen partners, determined to make sure that their extraordinary sacrifices were not in vain. And we will be standing behind you, as one nation and one people, proud of your actions, awed by your courage, and grateful for your service on our behalf."

May 15, 2012: Presidential remarks at the National Peace Officers' Memorial Service at the U.S. Capitol.

    Excerpt from Obama’s remarks:

"Today, with heavy hearts, we honor those who gave their lives. .... Their families are in our thoughts and prayers, as we remember the quiet courage of the men and women we have lost. … The rest of us can never fully understand what you go through. But please know that we hold you in our hearts -- not just today, but always. We are forever in your debt. And it is on behalf of all of us, the entire American people, that I offer my thoughts, my prayers, and my thanks. May God shine a light upon the fallen and comfort the mourning. May he protect the peacemakers who protect us every day."

May 15, 2013: Presidential remarks at the National Peace Officers' Memorial Service at the U.S. Capitol.

    Excerpt from Obama’s remarks:

"Scripture tells us, ‘None of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself.’ The brave officers we gather to remember today devoted themselves so fully to others -- to serve and to protect others -- that in the process they were willing to give their lives. And so, today, let us not remember them just for how they died, but also for how they lived. … We can never repay our debt to these officers and their families, but we must do what we can, with all that we have, to live our lives in a way that pays tribute to their memory."

May 9, 2014: Presidential proclamation for Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week.

    Excerpt from proclamation:

"During Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week, we celebrate those who protect and serve us every minute of every day, and we honor the courageous officers who devoted themselves so fully to others that in the process they laid down their lives. As we mourn the fallen, let us also remember how they lived."

If we could limit their violence to their own people and property- I'd agree. They won't, and unless stopped they will destroy everyone. No option- it will be necessary sooner or later to take them out. Depends on how soon people get tired of treating them kindly and being crapped on for doing it.

Yes, you just proved my point. Obama sent White House aids to the funeral of a guy who robbed a store and tried to kill a cop with his own gun.

    Definition of divisive.

You sowed your own seeds of division by dividing yourselves from the president; not the president from you. So now you have little to stand for but your own radical world of anarchy and heritage destruction.

You are, of course, your own worst enemies.

Let's assume that is correct. I have distanced myself from my POTUS. Any thoughts on how he speaks about blue states? Are there no republicans living in those states at all?

Thanks! Doesn't change the fact that Obama was extremely divisive. Speaking of which...how many military leaders did he fire during his war(s) campaigns?

Okay - please do go on thinking that Obama was divisive with that one move.
What does the firing of military leaders have to do with divisiveness?

How are we supposed to win a campaign when Obama keeps firing the ones doing great work? Also, before Operation Odyssey Dawn, two Generals were fired. Leading to us just merely droning without a real attack plan.

Do you think the people of Libya are happy now? Be careful with your answer. I have an interview from Democrats in congress if you disagree :)

And how, again, is that an example of divisiveness in the US?

I get the feeling you may be a partisan. If that's the case, I understand your line of questioning.

I'm going to guess you get your news from CNN, MSNBC, and (or) FOX? I'd be the farm I'm correct.

The president speaks quite honestly about the blue states, and how terribly some of their blue state leaders are running them. Do you find the truth to be divisive?

You know, there is such a thing as 'how' someone speaks. While you apparently see only 'truth' and don't find it offensive that Trump makes fun of blue states and calls their leaders names, I do find it highly unpresidential. And in suggesting that he sit back and relish the Seattle situation, yes, I do find him to be divisive. I imagine the republicans in Seattle weren't too amused with his comments.

I don't think the republicans in Seattle (if there are any) think much of their Seattle leaders either.

You look at style and I look at substance, and the substance I see in Seattle is failed leadership and failed policies, as can be seen in many other blue states and cities as well.

I'm sorry, but if you're a substance guy, you must be having a hard time supporting Trump. He hasn't put out a platform - just criticisms and making fun of others.

~ The next Trump rally will be Seattle. Military Police & National Guard will be in attendance . As mayor Durkin says : " “I don’t know ... We could have a Summer of Love  ! ” :blowkiss::blownose::hippie:

If you're looking for short soundbites, this will surely disappoint. If you're looking for something a little more academic, intelligent and thoughtful, try watching minutes 15:00-26:00 on this analysis of "Obama's Legacy". This was before Trump's inauguration.

Perhaps it will shed some light on why Trump was elected, why the Democrat Party has gone insane, and also why we have far-left idiots burning down cities today.
