If this was just about the part in green I could entertain the thought of supporting it, but as usual these radical progressives are out to sidestep reality with their racist games as evident from the part in blue. Mugshots and criminal histories are public for very good reasons but any notion that SF is doing this out of concerns for the presumption of innocence is total horse apples. These are, after all, the same folk who elevated the 5 times documented liar "Dr" Christine Ford to sainthood while in the process instantly condemning Justice Kavanaugh without even a shred of proof. The presumption of innocence didn't matter then, neither does it matter for any of the people the left deems to be its enemies. So what is this about? I think its a classic case of race pandering rooted in denial. I know the people behind this are fully aware that the very reason they're able to use one of their favorite buzzwords, "disparity", when they talk about black arrests rates is because blacks are responsible for a significantly higher amount of overall crime by comparison to others. But rather than address that, rather than try to fix that, they repackage the truth into a slanderous false narrative that the rest of us are to blame.
what’s racist? mug shots? fail to see how a photo is bias or was it the liberal govt of san fran was only releasing certain ones because they were bias? if that’s the case it needs fixin..vote the racist govt out
If you don't want your damn face on a mug shot then don't commit crimes, can someone let those that cry racism know this.
The same with the footage from police body cams. I knew it would happen to. They hooted and hollered and demanded that all police officers have a camera strapped to them, so all the footage could be made public, in order to demonstrate what a pack of brutal beasts the police are. And they got their wish, and then a flood of "problematic" footage of certain people, of certain protected classes, behaving themselves like wild animals was suddenly available. Footage showing police brutality? Yeah, not so much. Body cams led to far more exoneration of police, than the damning evidence they were hoping for. And then, whaddya know? All the body cam footage suddenly became a "privacy concern", and "racist". I saw that one coming from a mile away.
Large cities like Los Angeles and New York already have policies against releasing booking photos but make exceptions. For example, the New York Police Department, the nation’s largest, releases information on arrests but doesn’t put out mug shots unless investigators believe that will prompt more witnesses to come forward or aid in finding a suspect. In San Francisco, the only exceptions will be if a crime suspect poses a threat or if officers need help locating a suspect or an at-risk person, Scott said. Under the policy, the release of photos or information on a person who is arrested will also require approval from the police department’s public relations team. ___________ Other places have done something similar. I really don't see a problem.
IT WOULD TAKE A HEART OF STONE NOT TO LAUGH: “In San Francisco, where many locals push for… police reform, those same locals are tired of the break-ins.” Funny thing, once again, the virtue-signaling turns out to come from a place of class privilege: “Taking security private and avoiding the limitations that apply to the police… who can object? Surely not the ‘locals’ who are calling for an end to the police, but how will they get credit for their virtue if they themselves engage in behavior that is beyond what the law permits the police to do?”
This is where America is headed. When the next Democrat gets power, the interracial crime data will no longer be accessible. It is deeply offensive to the MSM elite when they are countered by the actual crime data. If that data is hidden, their narrative can no longer be countered. The fact that their narrative is a provable lie and they continue to push it anyways has incredibly troubling implications for our future.
They are matters of public record are they going to make arrest records secret now too because more blacks get arrested?
You don't see a problem in building the law around around a concept of special protections for select racial groups? You know we used to do ust that and it didn't work out so well. Why are we regressing to the designs of that era?
They stopped giving racial descriptions in police reports. They renamed south central LA because it had a stigma associated with it. And now they end mug shots. But we all know those aren't the problem-its the peoples actions that are the problem. Anytime a lefty claims to want to have an honest conversation about race, they are lying.
I would post them when people are found guilty, as everyone should be assumed innocent until proved guilty
that would probably miss up some outdated computer systems for sure, as most do not assume a name will have a single quote in it
