'Birdwatcher' Will Not Participate in Prosecution of the Woman Who Called 911 on Him

Earlier this week, Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance said his office had filed charges against Amy Cooper, a white woman who went viral earlier this summer when she frantically threatened to call the cops on a Black bird watcher. She’s been charged with filing a false police report, a class “A” misdemeanor.”

But the man directly affected by her actions, Christian Cooper, made it clear in a statement with the New York Times Tuesday that he has no intention of cooperating with prosecutors.

 

Wow, the author seems angry about a wee bit of everything.

 

Did she actually file a police report or did she only call 911. If it was only a 911 call, I doubt it will go far unless someone pushes the issue for political reasons....and even then a first year law student could probably get the charges dismissed.

This is the same city that refused to prosecute (or stop) rioters and looters just a few weeks ago.

 

She has been issued a summons formally charging her. She could potentially face up to one year in prison.

 

That just means that the NYC prosecutor will try to 'hang' her.

Hmmm sometimes the story doesn't fully come out at first.

 

No. No, no and hell no. As I recall NYC decided not to prosecute those who ONLY broke curfew. Not all who broke curfew rioted even though those who rioted broke curfew. If a bank robber exceeds the speed limit trying to getaway from the police after the robbery but it caught what reason is there to give him a speeding ticket!

 

The full story of this has been out there for a while, but most media sources have been deliberately ignoring it. The man admitted in his own Facebook posts that he behaved in a threatening manner before he started filming her. The funny thing is that he was the one acting like a “Karen” busybody when trying to enforce the park rules on her, even though both he and his sister used that term when they doxxed her. That puts the lie to the claim that it’s not being used as a racial slur.

His own video is pretty damning of his actions too. She said she was calling the police, and he said “please do”. Clearly he didn’t think that posed any danger to his life or well being. She said she was doing it because she felt he was threatening her. He had an easy opportunity there to clarify and simply say “I am not threatening you,” but instead he said tell them whatever you want. He was being a boor and a cad.

Was it wrong for her to weaponize his race against him to try to scare him off? Yeah, that was shitty and also weak as it turned out. I think she’s a jerk for saying that and also for letting her dog run loose in the park where it wasn’t allowed. But the woman was clearly scared and freaked out by the behavior he admitted to. That’s why these charges are fraudulent, and the woman probably has a very strong case for a civil suit against those who libeled and slandered her.

 

What was the charge? Making a fallacious 9-11 call? If that is the only charge the Birdwatchers guy most likely does not have standing.

 

The prosecutors are planning to go ahead even without his participation. This is purely political.

 

The woman lied to 911, endangering the guy, and your condemnation is for the city???

 

What a load of crap. Are people who call 911 and say that they are being threatened when they are not are just fine with you?? Nothing should be done about it??Prosecutors proceed on their own, routinely.

LOL. The transcript that Chris posted on his Facebook page of what happened before he started recording shows that he made a threatening statement and action toward her. The reason he's not cooperating is because he knows attention will be brought to that, and both he and his sister could be held liable in a civil case and/or maybe even lose their own jobs for publicizing this drama.

 

He said "Please do" because he knew he was innocent and he couldn't stop her from calling, anyway. What threatening statement and action? Threatening as defined by who?

 

LOL. He didn't feel endangered when he literally told her "PLEASE CALL THE COPS" twice in a row, per his own video recording. If she's guilty of making a "false" report, then how is he not an accessory to the crime by encouraging her to do so? Oops.

 

It's been rehashed a million times and the information is all out there publicly. Are you really ignorant of it, or just feigning here?

Yes, he could have stopped her from calling by saying "Please DON'T call the cops. I am NOT threatening you." But he clearly did want her to call the cops so he could get it on video and ruin her life. It seems he's aware now that he and his sister can face social consequences for his actions just like she did, if not legal consequences.

This does not mean it will go to court. She will probably be offered to a plea of stipulated guilty and pay a fine.

What she did is serious and put a lot of people in needless danger. Every time the police, fire dept, ambulances respond to a call the risk of accidents are there. Or say the police arrive and think his binoculars are a weapon and shoot him. They are screwed and he is dead. The idea that it's his fault for telling her to go ahead and call the police is absurd, she was threatening him with the police and he knowing she had nothing he said to go ahead. Someone called him boorish, well, that's not an unusual reaction to a bitch.

 

Did PeeWee Herman reopen his school for debate again? It seems that every time now that a charge is put forth the right responds with "I know what you are but what am I?"
