You seem jaded - and unaware of the history of Christianity - which has been responsible for far more intolerance and hate over the years - than "Atheism" "Modern Protestant Christianity" - do Orthodox and Catholic not count or are they still intolerant and hateful ?
You're much smarter than me. It wasn't until I was maybe 20 years old before I started to see the superstition that Christianity is based upon and the hypocrisy it practises on a daily basis.
Faith is the opposite of understanding. How does having faith in a virgin woman giving birth to a child fathered by a ghost open a door to anything other than more superstition and hocus-pocus?
Most Christian denominations don't go door to door canvassing for members. About once every five years I get a Jehovah's Witness visit and I just say I'm not interested and they move on. I am a Christian, but don't want to be bullied anymore than anyone else does. I fear nothing, and I find that most Christians couldn't care less about atheists, and atheists seem to be TERRIBLY worried about Christians. Case in point: I've not ever seen anyone get riled about someone saying "Happy Holidays," but saying "Merry Christmas" (heaven forbid before Dec. 24!) seems to be a major issue for some.
I don't believe that. I think they are working on commission, a sort of piecework. This is why one Christian church even tries to convert Christians of another Christian Church. It's all about numbers and wealth called "donations". I have met enough Jehovah's Witness and Mormons to know they despise one another ... all in the name of Christ.
Buddhists aren't fixated on hatred of Christians and Christianity. At least not by what I know of it.
Plenty of atheists despise each other. All in the names of hate, envy, ego, greed, competition, fear.
Yes, but that's not what I meant. I am talking about their respective indoctrination, not individuals. No doubt.
You made a "pun" awhile back about reincarnation. Thought maybe you were serious. You say you are Buddhist but you don't accept their mythology. Guess you don't stand for anything and that is pretty safe. That way you can sit around and snipe at others. I know your game. I don't respect it one bit.....but I know it.
If people don't know what the real Ten Commandments are, you should ignore their opinion about the Bible.
No hocus pocus at all. Besides, there is more faith in day to day life than you probably want to admit.
Not sure where non-belief becomes "hatred" But I'm sure Jesus of Nazareth would have something to say about your "hot take" And I'm pretty sure he'd walk across water and slap the snot out of you with some magic fishes and waste oh just so much time telling you that when you read through the BullCrap (no Mary was not a virgin and no The Buddha did not fall, fully grown, out of a bodhi tree) That the teachings of Jesus and those of the Buddha are nearly identical and what separates them is the mythology. Now let me tell you something as a Buddhist: I Don't Care! I don't care who or what you worship; I don't care what "heaven" or "hell" your deities threaten; I don't care where you worship (with safety regulations) I don't care when you worship (again with safety regulation) I'm willing to listen to your beliefs and learn from them (as I don't know everything and don't have a "god" who does) But My willingness to learn must be met with your willingness to be challenged I am a follower Tibetan Buddhism with some Siamese, Chinese, and even American adaptations. In the 20+ years since beginning my studies I've found nothing that causes me to doubt my path. You...Don't get to decide whether or not I'm a Buddhist, a plane, or even a frog! Just as I can't make that call for you. But If my path bothers you this much Perhaps you should try to find the why.
I know this will bother you but let me tell you what I stand for: BE GOOD FOR GOODNESS SAKE Now I'll leave you to ponder why that little phrase upsets the Christian community.
Sigh. Given you don't know me I'm going to guess that response is based more on bigotry toward non-christians than any actual factual basis.
Tibetan Buddhism with a twist of snarky bitterness. LOL. Spiritually you read like a ship without a rudder or an anchor. Lack of either destines a ship to go upon the rocks.
Never! Turn the TV on. Sunday morning. You'll easily find a dozen guys preaching their vision of the Bible. Goodness there's whole stations dedicated to differing versions and views. And you know what? I don't care. No one makes me watch those stations but when you knock on my front door and demand I listen? Find "FU ATHIEST" in marker on my car? Something wrong even if I were an atheist. Denied opportunity to coach my kid's team because of "concerns" surrounding "religious discussions." Well, I'm pretty sure I'm not the one crossing the line. I don't care what they do. Why do they worry so much over what I do? Or, more importantly, not do.
So, you believe that a virgin woman giving birth to a child fathered by a ghost is a fact. We are talking about faith in religious superstition but faith in nonsense is just as ridiculous in "day to day life" .... and I am fully aware of it. "Admitting it" is an obscure notion assuming that I would want to keep it from you. Hello!
