What the whole Trump episode of our history demonstrates, is that Authoritarianism/Fascism is popular. Modern tyrants get to power because a significant % of the population wants a tyrant. The Founders understood exactly this, which is why they admonished their Posterity with the "if you can keep it" line. (They also devised the Electoral College, in part, as a backstop against the rise of a Demagogue to the office of the Chief Magistrate. Imagine how they would react to the the knowledge that the EC was the prime lever giving the Demagogue access to the office!)

Can we support flooding the capital with protestors while opposing the tiny number of fanatics and provacateurs that took it too far, or is that too complicated? Or are you saying mostly peaceful protests are all bad?

The question in the survey is very clear about who is being discussed here. You seem to be having trouble understanding that. Get back to us when you have worked it out.

And that is exactly what's happening. Anyone who thinks Mitch hasn't evicted Trump from the GOP isn't paying attention.

The question asked people whether they support those who "stormed the US Capitol to protest lawmakers certifying Joe Biden’s election victory," correct?

Given that the vast majority of those who showed up to "storm the US Capitol to protest lawmakers certifying Joe Biden’s election victory" did so peaceably, its not reasonable to paint 'support' for the protest as support for the tiny few that engaged in crime.

You have to understand. Democrats are claiming EVERYONE violently broke into the capital. They don’t understand facts or nuance. These are the same people who ignored mass riots across Democrats cities that all started as mostly peaceful protests but ended up as violent riots. But it’s OK when one side does it. All the people rioting weren’t really BLM or Democrats. Most were white supremacists wearing BLM gear. :). It’s what we heard and read for months.

    HAHAHAHA. NO........FULL STOP

in that poll, 45% of REPUBLICANS supported the insurrection that happened. That was the question, that is what they supported.

Maybe you can explain the zip ties? (Serious question)

But it is reasonable to paint support for storming the Capitol as support for storming the Capitol. That is what the question asked and that is what people responded to.

Just because 'storming' necessarily denotes violence and destruction to you doesnt mean its not just a hype word to others. The simple fact is that the vast majority of people who 'stormed' the capital did so peacefully and a very tiny few spoiled it with crime.

Actually, I thought it was just a very few at first as well. Then I started seeing the actual video footage and the SOUND that went on during
the riots. It wasn't just a few. It was the hundreds of rioters who smashed their way into the Capitol. The screams of the injured cops can
be heard above the chants to hang VP Pence. It's sickening. Hell. MAGA and Antifa - different sides of the same coin.

Yes, I know there were many Trump supporters who never climbed the Capitol steps, and I'm not talking about them. But that left hundreds
who participated in injuring cops and desecrating OUR Capitol Building. Trump talked of third world ****holes, and those MAGA rioters
brought it home to us - those rioting MAGA dicks made OUR country the equivalent of a third-world ****hole in that moment.

MAGA and Antifa. The worst of the worst.

Well, that makes all the difference - it was ONLY a few hundred MAGA who stormed the Capitol and killed a cop and injured another 50. Well, I guess
that makes it all OK. WTF, dude.

Just admit that hundreds of MAGA did a disgusting and vile thing - and that others left the scene without entering the Capitol. I have no problem saying that Antifa
are scum and that any violent rioters from BLM should be jailed. Just watch the entire video record of what went on in the Capitol and
listen to sound of that cop being crushed ... and then stop minimizing and rationalizing with bullcrap excuses.

If you want to express support for the 'peaceful' people who broke into the Capitol building then go right ahead. What they did was a crime. If that is who you are happy to associate yourself with then go for it.

If it were me I'd simply draw a distinction between the people who stayed outside to protest and the people who joined a mob that smashed its way into the Capitol building; assaulted police, resulting in the deaths of one policeman & a protester; crushed another person to the point where she also died; vandalized the Capitol, including smearing faeces; threatened members of Congress and the Vice President. Of course, thats just me.

The worst part is we have thousands of Americans dying each day from a pandemic, we have hospitals putting patients in hallways and tents - and
now we have to deal with MAGA morons storming the Capitol and 100,000 Trump supporters not wearing masks or social distancing at the
    very peak of infections.

Hell, I thought it was stupid as hell when BLM and Antifa scum rioted, and didn't wear masks - but now we have a President blessing a super-spreader
event. It's stupidity at a grand level. MAGA claim to support police - then they go out and crush them, kill them, and infect them all in the
same day. It's really next level stupid and thoughtless.

Yes hundreds of 'MAGA' (Q-ists and 'Anti'Fa) turned criminal while hundreds of thousands stayed peaceful and/or actually tried to stop them. I denounce the criminals (does that make you feel better?). Now can we agree that it was a 'mostly peaceful' protest?

to be fair, 1400 people is not a lot, and anymore, many people voting in polls like this are paid or incentivized to do so, in low numbers polls, that gives them more influence, in high volume polls they are drowned out by the numbers

so while agree many do support this, 45% seems way too high to me

I express support for the vast majority- people who went to demonstrate lawfully against the fraudulant election and the political establishment covering it up. I express support for the 10 day extension of investigations they went there to demand. The tiny minority of criminal provacateurs and morons who criminally followed them into assault, vandalism and B&E and ruined it all and got ppl killed should rot in jail.

They won't though. They handed total victory over to the globalist establishment, and possibly put us on track to a civil war... they are unwitting allies to that they went to defeat, and their punushment will only be spiritual.
