More than 5,300 NYPD uniformed officers retired or put in their papers to leave in 2020 — a 75 percent spike from the year before, department data show.

The exodus — amid the pandemic, anti-cop hostility, riots and a skyrocketing number of NYC shootings — saw 2,600 officers say goodbye to the job and another 2,746 file for retirement, a combined 5,346.

Through April 21 of this year, 831 cops have retired or filed to leave — and many more are expected to follow suit in the current anti-cop climate, according to Joseph Giacalone, a retired NYPD sergeant and adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

This is a 75% spike in departures And the left scratches their heads among their defund the police rhetoric, bailing out rioters, and refusing to allow police to clear the streets of violent protestors.

And NY isn't the only department seeing RECORD retirements.

Atlanta police said in a statement have had anywhere from two to six officers resign per month in 2020,

In Buffalo, New York, nearly 60 officers resigned from the force's emergency response team in disgust because of the treatment of two of their members, who were simply executing orders.

SEATTLE — Over 175 pages of exit interviews from more than one hundred SPD officers stating their reasons for leaving their jobs with claims of refusing to work for a socialist City Council and their political agenda.

And the list goes on. This will have a major effect on midterms. You can count on it.

    .

Local Texas news recently interviewed a FORMER NYC policeman who is enjoying his retirement in a Dallas suburb.

    .

Meanwhile in Texas... there is a bill that passed the house and is now in the state senate to allow owners to open carry their handguns without permit.

Texas has no state income tax. But local property taxes are high.

If you want to live in an urban area, I prefer the suburban Dallas/Ft Worth [DFW] area. Suburbs north of Dallas are best.

Apparently so do most people... it is the fastest growing area of Texas.

New Braunfels is in the Texas Hill Country... a beauiful area of Texas that was settled by Germans.

Would be proud to have you here, Daniel. The suburbs south of Houston are conservative and we believe in law and order.

If some of these cops can't control the urge to get trigger-happy or shake down women for sex at traffic stops, retirement seems like a good thing.

Get these criminals (who commit murder and rape under the cloak of authority) off of the force.

So you think 5300 officers all leaving NY are leaving because they can't rape and murder anymore?
Why would I expect anything different from one of your post.

Move to a place where the people respect your profession and are thankful for your services. Texas is a good choice. I can think of a few others as well.

They sure did. Rape is up over 300% just this year alone. That'll teach um.

I drove through Seattle yesterday and it makes me sick, what was once a beautiful city has become such a Liberal shithole of poverty and despair full of drug addicts, homeless tents, garbage and crap everywhere. My properties are exploding in value, because people are desperate to find away out of there and move to areas of Washington not ruled by such a radical leftist agenda. Amazing to me that the people of Seattle and King Country continue to so readily vote in such an extremist form of Government that is causing so much suffering and violence. I guess the pain for Liberals just hasn't gotten bad enough for them stop and admit the errors of their ways. Seattle was such a cool city once to go for dinner, music, clubs and dancing, but I try and stay as far away as possible now, because it's a dangerous place to be, but if they want to defund the Police, have at it. Sounds like New York is in for some hard times.

I'm told our local county sheriff has more applicants than openings. We have a very good sheriff department out here in the boonies.

Ok, you're talking about a stupid small percentage and acting as if it's rampant.

Unless of course you have data to back up your post?

Police do not prevent crime, how is the current exodus responsible for rapes over the past 3 months or crimes last year?

Not disagreeing with the rest, but what I highlighted is not correct. Their existence prevents god knows how many crimes from even being attempted. Less police = less chance of being caught = more people willing to commit crimes.
