Taliban Seizes Billions in US-Supplied Weaponry
    [IMG]

The Taliban has seized billions of dollars’ worth of U.S.-supplied thank you tax payers military equipment in Afghanistan following their rapid defeat of government forces in that country.

Images of Taliban fighters posing with U.S.-made supplies are circulating widely in the media, The Hill’s Rebecca Kheel reports, and include weapons ranging from M-16 rifles to armored Humvees. UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and A-29 Super Tucano attack aircraft have also reportedly been captured.

Videos show Taliban fighters inspecting vehicles left behind by the Afghan military and opening crates of new firearms and other military equipment, including drones and night-vision goggles. “Everything that hasn't been destroyed is the Taliban's now," a U.S. official told Reuters. . .

This isn't the first time over recent decades.
Why don't these computer heavy killing machines have
"kill switches" programmed in their computer systems?
I mean ID the equipment no longer in American control, push the button and fry the electronics. WHY NOT?

Why weren't they destroyed as the troops left? Why weren't they gone long ago? Why hasn't Biden ordered airstrikes to take them out?

That would be the Taliban now thank you Joey. Why did he leave all those military assets for them?

If the US had the capability to destroy their equipment at will, no one would ever buy it, ever.

Its only taxpayer money. No one gives a damn about tax money. They practically give it away!

It would be funny if this was part of a strategy and every vehicle was equipped with a kill switch we could remotely activate!

Like I said in the other thread, this isn't a tree we want to bark up. Bark about the people, not the weapons.

One of two things is going to be the finding. Either we're going to find out that the Taliban has gotten a steady stream of US weapons from the start (like they claim). Or we're going to find out that they are Norinco m16s from the Chinese. Possibly both. Biden will do nothing in either event, come off clean, and we'll look like morons for letting it happen on our watch.

Why? These weapons could be used to kill more American soldiers, or allies. This is disgusting negligence and is unforgivable. Biden is costing lives. He needs to be removed today!

Oy! How I wish this thread never had legs to get started, but it does, and that's sickening. POS president.

    That's why.

The weapons the Taliban has weren't just stacked up in a hanger for us to forget to destroy. They were all over Afghanistan, distributed over 2 decades. The stuff the US forces left behind is useless. It's the stuff we gave away that's the trouble...

The stats I have read indicate the Army you call cowardly took more casualties than the US did in the Vietnam fighting an enemy that defeated the Soviet Union. What is your basis for calling them cowardly? Do you have any personal experience in Afghanistan? Even any second hand knowledge? Or do you get your information that they were cowards from the draft dodger Joe Biden.

You don't think we left classified weapons at Bagram?

Not likely. We weren't giving our best weapons to the Afghans. We were giving them 20 year old drones and prop aircraft. What is the Taliban going to do with Mraps? Protect themselves from their own ieds? It certainly won't protect them from an ac-130.

Nope. The Afghans were totally dependant on us for the high tech intelligence gathering stuff, and our not leaving it with them, or their inability to use what we did leave them was a factor in their rapid defeat.

The rolling stock needs maintenance to keep rolling - an American trademark. Same-O with the M-16/M4’s need training and maintenance, but are much better than the AK style they are used to.
There is nothing in the Blackhawks for them, assuming the cannon has been removed.
It it was Vietnam again, they would dump them into the sea.
What we really lost was our reputation for top notch leadership, especially military.
Just like the Olympics, “Woke is Poison for Success”.
Now the tribes can get back to the business of killing each other more effectively.

What might be interesting tech to leave behind is long range uwb rtls in a bunch of assets we know they will parade around in. That would be nice and secret.

Most modern factories track all their assets with real time location services. Think super rfid. Not detectable without a scanner to generate an energizing signal.

    Not likely, but possible.

There were motion-sensor machine guns at every corner of Bagram, where are those.?

You set them like a sprinkler.
A sprinkler that fires .308 rounds fully automatically out to x yards. (300?)
Yeah I'm not military. I think they call it 7.62 X 51 rounds?
Did anyone see how many M249s they left the Taliban?

The cannon and airbursts were not removed. I saw an Apache as well.
Millions of dollars of weapons left there. This kind of stupidity is unprecedented.
Nobody has ever, ever been that stupid before.
BTW: Stupid is knowing better, and then going ahead and doing it anyway.

Oh, they'll use those weapons on each other like the Hatfields n' McCoys.
Or shoot nearby. Just to scare people up.

I guess maybe this is why our military equipment is so maintenance intensive. Most of this stuff will be broken down soon without an army of mechanics and technicians to keep it working.
