Has anyone seen this before? I’ve been hearing that catching the latest variant sent such a bad thing because it’s mild and provides immunity. This article seems to back up the immunity part.

Good news if true. Centerfield's recent posts support this possibility.

Personally I'm booked in for the booster in January, as I'd rather have my immune system trained as much as possible before Omicron. (We will probably all get it eventually). I'm also going to try and delay catching it by taking sensible precautions until the Covid pills are in wider circulation and treatment protocols are well established.

Do you mind me asking if you have noticed any long-term effects from your "China flue" bout?

~ Ben Carson and Rand Paul both pointed this out. Same with flu & common cold virus. We keep immunity to the strain that infects us - but there are always others. Who knows , we may actually have some Covid19 immunity from catching the common cold/flu virus in the past .. ?

:bleh:' " Nobody knows nothin' until it's over .."

not true of the vaccine or natural immunity, just like the flu, as variants change, you may or may not still be immune

also, something as simple as a prolonged fast can reset your immune system

this is why fasting can help where ones immune system attacks itself

can even fix a broken immune system (the flip side is it can undo the benefits of the vaccine)

"Fasting for three days can regenerate entire immune system, study finds"

    https://www.flowin.com/index.php?page=blog_post&blog_id=79

"Fasting for as little as three days can regenerate the entire immune system, even in the elderly, scientists have found in a breakthrough described as "remarkable"."

    "Prolonged fasting 're-boots' immune system"

    https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/277860

"Results of a new study on mice and a phase 1 trial of humans suggest that prolonged cycles of fasting – for 2-4 days at a time – not only protect against toxic effects of chemotherapy, but also trigger stem cell regeneration of new immune cells and clearing out of old, damaged cells."

while I agree with that statement, I do not agree with the title

less harmful variants that are more contagious may be a good thing as it will protect us from some variants

If one has had COVID-19 and recovered from it, then one has acquired immunity to COVID-19 and that immunity lasts for life.

"The flu" is a generalized term for a number of different viruses within the influenza series of viruses.

COVID-19, on the other hand, is a specific virus within the COVID/SARS series of viruses.

If one catches H1N1 flu and recovers, then one has immunity to H1N1, and that immunity lasts for life.

Nope. None. There is no such thing as a variant of a variant.

Remember, COVID-19 is ALREADY a variant (of the COVID/SARS series of viruses).

When I was a younger man I had a terrible flu. I didn't go to the doctor and was bed ridden for a week. It was BAD. After that my immune system became very very strong.

Nope. You cannot have a variant of a variant. A different virus is a different virus, thus any so-called "variant" of COVID-19 is no longer COVID-19.

just like one flu is different from another variant of the flu

but you're correct, adding the 19 on there, we may need another vaccine in the future for future new variants and getting covid may or may not protect you from future variants as well

Yes. In most cases if you recover from a strain of influenza you have lifelong immunity to that strain. And cross reactive protection to other strains.

Unfortunately, you won't have immunity from government overreach.

You are likely immune to the disease if you survive it yes.

Except for the fact the virus mutates really fast.... in a globalized world... which means... You ain't gonna be immune to the variants for too long. To say nothing of the herd immunity that will be lost as time goes on.

If that were so we would have seen the same pattern we saw with H1N1 where those who had been exposed in the past to a similar strain had partial immunity

Steve - did you check out this site? It seems to be a Chinese website and I am a little surprised you would link to a site like this

Still there are other bigger concerns number one being, and this is a life lesson

NEVER TRUST AN ARTICLE ON ANY FORM OF SCIENCE THAT IS NOT REFERENCED!!!

Especially since they seem to be playing a shell and pea game with the quotations

I hear this. But I don't see any real life data on it ....hospitals keep records of unvaccinated people and vaccinated people hospitalized for or getting Covid but no large scale data on people previously tested for Covid getting it again. And in my pandemic world...I'm seeing vaccinated and unvaccinated people getting Covid but no one I know who actually had Covid is getting it again.
