So, some guy who has worked all his life for WalMart has to do nothing more than invent the flat screen tv and/or get a job designing rockets for Elon Musk

    OOOK.

You have an MBA and this explains inflation? Obama didn't cause inflation and he stopped Keystone during his administration. Biden hasn't even been President for a year and we know there's a lag between government policies and inflation.
The "free cash" also held off a recession. What would you have done in the middle of a pandemic that continues damaging the services sector of the economy?
Chinese imports have increased 25%. There's no way we can quickly adjust distribution to an increase of that magnitude.
Someone who doesn't understand economics might buy your BS.

I find it hard to believe someone with an MBA doesn't understand what I'm talking about.

I understand, I just don't agree. Like when you predict that there would have been a recession. The best crystal balls, the most valuable tea leaves... can't help you predict the future with certainty. When costs of oil produced on governemnt lands goes up... the cost of oil and gas go up IMMEDIATELY. I would have done what I could to keep the pandemic from hurting the economy. On 21 March 2021 the Governor here in Texas opened up everything... schools, businesses, restaurants, beaches... and we THRIVED... we continue to do so. FREE GOVERNMENT HANDOUTS that wreck economies were not used. (Before you say we are heavy with the China Virus, we are 38th in the nation for deaths per 100,000 population.)

Ships on the west coast cant unload because California has banned trucks built before 2011 and banned independent truckers. Spin that any which way you want, but those are the FACTS.

    This is an absurd claim.
So much clout the Democratic mayors of Chicago and New York are staring them down.
You have no idea what you're talking about.

You couldn't understand basic economics and make this comment. We can't help but have a downturn if we remove this much demand from the economy.
    No, it doesn't.
Texas' economy is also being kept alive by the heavy federal government spending. Without it, Texas would also be in trouble.
Again, it's hard to swallow you have an MBA. Texas sells into a national market that includes spending from Americans in other states who did get the "FREE GOVERNMENT HANDOUTS."
Do I think CA is handling the problems well? No, absolutely not. It took Obama too long to climb on Newsom's butt.

So much demand was removed that stores shelves are empty.
"Heavy federal government spending" in Texas? Where's that? Can you you name a place, a contract... nothing like that here.
Texas doesn't sell much to California. California doesn't allow independent truckers. And with gas through the roof under Biden, gas prices keep a lot of our goods right here where we can keep our shelves full.

The demand for services delivered in "places with faces" is where demand is down. On the flip side, demand is up for goods and services.
No, it's heavy federal spending in other states where people then buy goods and services produced in Texas.

The demands in "places with faces" has been so great shelves are empty. Distribution is a mess to service internet shopping. A shortage of drivers, California outlawing independent drivers and trucks built before 2011, gees, even the flash mobs that have moved from looting stores to looting trucks all contribute to a market unable to deliver goods and services.

This is new. I don't think there is a textbook in print studied in an MBA program that addresses the effects of flash mobs, hundreds of ships waiting offshore unable to unload, or truck driver restrictions such as we see in California.

Because overall demand for goods and not-in-person services has increased.

Right. Nothing at all to do with the increased price of gas... nothing at all to do with folks staying home and collecting free money.... nothing at all to do with Newsom's ban on independent truckers and ban on trucks built before 2011.... nah... nothing to do with that... with businesses shut down by Biden COVID mandates people are rolling in dough and creating high demand... yeah... that's it ... uh huh

I replied to your walmart employee dig. Walmart has some jobs that pay pretty well. No need to design rockets to get by in life. The country is full of Walmart prospects and more are getting here every day.

Great .. so our aspiration is that we be a nation of "Walmart" employees .. Now that is aiming low ..but hey.. least expectations will be met .. and there is something to be said for that.

There are places that will never have faces the way they once did. Online order/delivery service is becoming a thing. Not a good thing but there it is. All the big box stores have young people pushing truck carts and filling several orders at a time. It also limits the variety of goods available as orders are filled with store brands which are also all that is found on the shelves for in store customers. There are a number of things in our lives that will be permanently changed by this virus and our response to it. Brave new world

Walmart employees is a derogatory term for working class people. Not everyone is a Doctor or a lawyer, some make good money driving trucks, building houses, repairing cars, building pipelines and drilling wells. They paint your house and mow your lawn. Aspirations are still your own plan but sometimes life gets in the way.

Wrong. People are using more gasoline and OPEC is limiting production.

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/gas-prices-high-profiteers-biden/
    People are driving more.
So, you figure gasoline prices are higher in Texas because of Newsom?

    https://www.dallasnews.com/business/energy/2021/10/20/heres-why-gas-prices-are-so-high-right-now-and-when-you-can-expect-them-to-go-down/
You continue to surprise with your lack of business acumen.

Oh? Restricting fracking, cutting the pipeline, increasing costs for producing oil on federal lands, thereby driving up gas prices... did NOT EFFECT the national delivery system for goods? Really? You REALLY believe that? You really believe his had no effect on inflation? Really?

You DENY that Newsom banned trucks built before 2011 from California highways and banned independent truckers too? You deny that this had a disastrous effect on the unloading of over 100 ships stuck offshore just waiting? You deny that this had and continues to have a disastrous effect on the US distribution system? You deny that this has increased inflation? Really?

If you really deny these things, please contact me.I have a really good real estate deal for you. Its a brideg. Well trafficked. In Brooklyn. Its a great deal. Cash only.

I never said the price of gas was higher in Texas because of Newsom. The cost of billions of dollars of other things sitting in ships off the California coast due to Newsom however, is rising and rising. But in the case of just gas? We make our own here.

People are driving more? LOL... as they are stuck in their homes due to businesses closing or hampered by China Virus mandates... they drive more? As kids are stuck at home and aren't taken to school, athletic activities, etc... people drive more? Really? Instead of being driven to school, Scouts, athletic practice, etc... mom and dad are driving them from the kitchen to the couch a lot more? Really?

You really believe that as the cost of gas skyrockets, people are driving MORE? Really?

They are driving more than in 2020.
"China Virus?" Only from the Trumper lips.

You’re right. The correct name would be “Wuhan Virus.”
