Maybe that's the wrong way to look at it I suppose. They don't think about things. I mean we see here on a daily basis that their critical thinking skills are nil.

If conservatives got to draft their own ridiculous "hate speech" laws, then half the progressives in this forum could be arrested for what they have posted.

Not only that, but as we have already seen in other countries that have implemented this crap, all sorts of things could be interpreted as "hate speech" that are not really hate speech.
The intentional idea seems to be to force the other side to dance on their toes and avoid certain topics.

When was North Stream 1 and 2 agreed and started again? At a time when Putin did nothing bad at all and sorry to say and use a term of this dumbass with his silly red MAGA cap:

Well, in large parts of EU people don't speak English.
So it's not exactly about blocking "illegal" American contents, but it's about impeding that EU citizens begin to use Twitter in a way which is against EU rules.
I'm among the few Italians who are active on English sites [Italians pretend to speak English and it happens that we pretend so well that foreigners think that we speak English for real!].

The EU stated that there are "rules for online platforms to tackle illegal content", it didn't threaten to ban Twitter.

 

Hate speech is so subjective it really means nothing.

Trying to limit such a subjective issue is precisely the problem and why freedom of speech, Eben that deemed hate, is so important.

Mods exist to spot multi-accounting. Probably he wants to save money renouncing to a lot of mods.

But this would be the minor problem. Internet is the realm of fake identities [we all dream to be someone else, and Elon dreams the same].
So ... my prediction is that Twitter is going to die.

 

Some fake news site gins up a controversy using a misleading headline and selective factual information coupled with extremist polemical hogwash. It gets shared to social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter or otherwise pushed out to people in an information silo. Then they repost it everywhere, including this forum.

And here we are. The fake news site gets clicks and revenue for publishing a stupid fake news piece and people like us are stuck fighting like crabs in a bucket over a whole lot of nothing.
