No, you obviously don't understand section 230 and what it does. Get back to me when you do or we aren't even arguing the same thing.

    https://www.eff.org/issues/cda230

There are requirements for a platform to be able to titled a platform. This title protects them from civil lawsuits. This allows them to host lies on the internet without being liable. All I am saying is they can be liable to civil lawsuits OR not be liable but if they want to avoid liability, they have to take certain actions to minimize those lies without censoring or making edits to those posts. They can do this by having better structured algorithms and having disclaimers.

Finally the constitution prevents the "prohibition" of speech. Read the actual constitution instead of espousing your misguided views of what is in it. They can require speech peretaining to regulating commerce. And Do all over the place.

You acknowledged that terminating part of a contract could be seen as a termination of the entire thing. In fact, that's how it works most of the time.

I've read it many, many times, and the fringe-right take on 230 has nothing to do with the actual thing. And the Constitution mentions the prohibition OF THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF, not just prohibition of speech. Prohibition of the exercise.

How do you get that from this - "saying an agreement is terminated and an agreement is partly terminated are completely different things."?

Because you acknowledged that sometimes they are different things and sometimes they are the same thing.

I think Trump is exaggerating a tad. I'm sure most Republicans believe that the only part of the Constitution he needs terminated in order for him to accomplish his goals is the 2nd Amendment. ;)

Where do I suggest they are sometimes the same thing?

Trump has m made many mistakes. Human beings tend to do that -- alas.
That is why his base of support is very provisional. Trump has been booed by his supporters at his rallies.

How is a direct entire quote taking his comment out of context?

I cannot claim credit for the thought, but allow me to paraphrase.

To Trump, the Constitution is like a wife. He just tosses her aside when he finds something else to gratify his fragile ego.

Imagine what a wonderful husband and father Trump would be if he loved his wives and children as much as he loves his delusional, self serving conspiracy theories which features him achieving adequacy.

Kids are all successful and aren't taking pictures with crack pipes and smashing hookers left and right. I think compared to the "big guy" , job well done.

This thread is living proof that the #MSM and others will take anything Trump says, turn into a lie and then stand by it as if it were factual and exactly as stated, even though people can read it for themselves and know it is nothing more than a lie.

Anything Trump says, good or bad, will literally be twisted around and taken to the extreme. Reminds me of comments he made while in office about Charlotsville or the Russian Hoax nonsnese or the phone call to Ukraine or lies about aide and Putin.... anything will be twisted into lies to make him look bad.

Yet, they were all investifgated and dragged through the mud as criminals while Hunter gets a pass. So does Joe, despite mounting evidence of illegal business deals and drug deals. Insane.

It's good to be a Democrat serving in office, you are above the law.

Totally. Trump saying he wanted to terminate parts of the Constitution is totally not supported by his actual quotes saying he wanted to terminate parts of the Constitution.

It took 48 hrs for Trump to do his "fake news" shtick routine.

He can't go there and explain what he did mean because as usual he's full of ****.

'Trum'p denies he suggested 'termination' of Constitution, without deleting post

    Source: Politico

Former President Donald Trump on Monday denied he wanted to “‘terminate’ the Constitution,” two days after suggesting “the termination of all rules ... even those found in the Constitution.”

“The Fake News is actually trying to convince the American People that I said I wanted to ‘terminate’ the Constitution. This is simply more DISINFORMATION & LIES,” Trump said on Monday on his own social media platform, Truth Social.

The post seemed to be a complete denial of his post from Saturday, which remained online as of Monday afternoon: “A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution,” Trump wrote over the weekend, once again falsely asserting that there was widespread fraud in the 2020 election.

Several of Trump’s fellow Republicans were critical of the post, but few condemned Trump himself or said it would be disqualifying for him to earn their vote — a lack of repudiation that has drawn criticism from Democrats. The post came less than a month after Trump officially declared his plans to run for president again in 2024, and he remains the only major Republican candidate to announce a campaign."

But this is exactly why the hyperbolic reporting is so dumb. By exaggerating, they give him the chance to say Fake News. If they just stuck with what he actually said, it's plenty bad enough. He'd still say Fake News probably, but then he wouldn't have a fig leaf to justify the claim.

and it shines a light on the #MSM which once again gets called out for making up things about Trump. They should have accurately reported what he said instead of lying. But they just cannot help themselves.

Which is an amazing amount of ignoring what Trump said in order to deny Trump's exact words.

Present company excluded, those Heaven's Gates followers were mere wimps compared to the level of devotion and self sacrifice MAGA cultists go to.

Reporters did stick with what Trump actually said and Trump's redundant "fake news" is all he's ever got.

The "fig leaf" covers nothing because he lost his manhood long ago.

His denial was ludicrous to say the least but more than enough to satisfy his peanut gallery, they're so easy.

In strict, literal terms, Trump didn't say the constitution should be terminated: "allows" is not "should". Very strictly speaking, he didn't even say parts of the constitution should be terminated, though he incredibly strongly implied it. I hate Trump and pretty much everything he stands for, but misrepresentations like this (as I see it; I know you disagree) just make his life easier. My suspicion is if a democrat had said this, the positions of many people here would flip 180 degrees.

You're not the first person to argue that my argument is merely "semantics." In fact I think it's possible that maybe half of the arguments I have on this forum are related to "semantics." Of course I think words matter and that words actually mean something, That apparently isn't a common sentiment these days. If you don't want to argue on those terms, then you have an option not to.
