A jaw dropping moment occurred when I heard a Mother tell her children, "The teacher said if you don't get your homework in on time you will have to use your books instead of the computer." I asked her if they ever had to use their books and was answered with a , "Well yes, sometimes they have to." Computer learning is fine but holding a book and writing down assignments should be the most important.

When I got up this morning the temperature was 39. I was looking for temps in the 20's, just less than 2 hrs the temps have dropped 10 degrees and the wind is blowing straight out of the north. Guess we are in for a bit of cold weather.. No, snow and it was so close. Yesterday was a perfect day for snow, misting rain and overcast, it really got my hopes up. Today is sunny, bright and cold...so much for my snow wish.

When I got up this morning the temp was 16 it has gone up a degree it is now 17.
Later this morning I am going to go over to the pond to see if it has ice. The pond has had ice around the edges before but the temps have never been this cold since we have lived here.

We have quite a few birds visiting the feeders we have out. The feeders were full before the freeze moved in that might help keep some of them alive.

19 degrees here.. we have had -5 degrees before, but that was a meteorological fluke. (colder than Delaware at the time!) If the sun is out and there is no wind, it is actually very bearable. Now I'm off to the garage to say good bye to my old Harley, it was getting to be no fun as I'd have to work on it an hour to ride it an hour, just didn't have the time, haven't ridden it in a year or so... sending it to a good home now! LOL

You live out in the desert with plenty of good riding area off road right? Get you a KLR 650 man. That thing is known to be a workhorse that lasts forever.

There are three 4 x 4 pick up trucks in the driveway now. One is mine, got air conditioning, everything.

and I can carry more stuff on it.

I certainly considered a K RL years ago.

I still have my minivan and you can bet I rode that to work tonight because it's going to be freezing.

A motorcycle is nice but not as a primary vehicle.

I'm getting ready to go to work again 10:00 p.m. to about 6:30 a.m.

    Oh well..

I consider myself pretty well paid for it. Come on 6:20 a.m..... my official 48-hour weekend will then begin

Our cat has turned into an excellent tracker. He tracked us down across a field to get his ride. He is one of those cats that is loaded with personality a smile a minute.

Brother in laws saw our big cat.. a bobcat, when they were visiting over Christmas. That makes me happy.

Bob cats are neat animals we have one that shows up ever so often. A developer(?) just bought about 100 acres north of us and it borders the land where we see the bob cat. That will probably mean the end of his home place. Sad but such is progress (?). They have already started clearing the land and pushing up some trees.

Are they ever aggressive towards humans or do they just run away?

The instance I cracked the sliding door open, the male disappeared. When watching him you must stand very still.
The female was engrossed in hunting when I spotted her, whne she saw me, she just watched me, and when she did leave, she was twitching her tail.. wshe was very aggravated over being disturbed in her endeavor.
They wouldn't attack anything they can't kill and eat, so an adult human is definitely not going to be attacked.. they might try to eat a very small child.. but I doubt it, human is just not on their menu. They are really very shy.
We have bigger cats, mountain lions, who might stalk a human.. but none of them around here have... I believe in those cases when you hear of mountain lions stalking and attacking humans, it is in areas where the cat has more experience around humans and is not instantly terrified when humans are in the vicinity.

You should see what they can do with a dog. My neighbors dog got in a tangle with one and it looked like he had been in a razor fight. He was a sad sight.
