I would say he was gay. He was probably barley finger-licking good. Excuse the vulgarity but I saw him licking his finger and I couldn't help but think . . .

You said Peppermints comparison wasnt a good example. I contend that, yes, it damn sure is. They are both all about show, costumes & make-up. They both perform BEFORE (<---- grown up spelling) an audience. I thought (<---grown up spelling) you were aware that stars like them put on performances to entertain the public. My mistake. Oh, yah, on IS filmed so it can be edited and such...that way mistakes can be left out. Duh. Live shows like Prince arent given that luxury.

It is and was expected that "most people" would not "get" him. He was a sensuality master chef. David Bowie wishes he was Prince. Prince liked girls... he devoted his attention to their liking so much that he found what appealed to them appealing. He wore a trench coat and a gold lamay bikini... he established glam rock. What he did, that not many managed, was to write, engineer, record, produce, perform and in all ways OWN his work. Oh, and he looked the same when he died as he did in 1982, because he is a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing mutant. Yes, he probably killed himself with opiods. In my America, you get to. You get to not fade into madness. His studio possesses more work 10 fold than he ever released. The gift of prince will keep on giving, and chances are, you haters will like some of it... if you allow yourselves. Nobody in this era did what he did. Hate him all you will. That midget kicked the worlds ass. Long live Prince.

 

Yes to all of that. But in the end, he self destructed. He had it all by the standards of many. And blew it.

 

He died young, beautiful, rich, and on his own terms. It is we who opt to judge. His family is absorbing a windfall because he owned his work, and everybody is seeking it. Thousands of our best die on the battlefield scores younger than he. He did what he did best as long as he could manage it. Say farewell instead of chastise his chosen path. It was an inglorious death of an icon. Remember Phillip Seymore Hoffman? He OD'd in front of his children. Do you hold Prince below him? That is a serious question.

 

I do not think that Prince's last days were "on his own terms". Who has all that you say he did, and then dies out of their mind, wired on opiates, without their memories working properly, claiming that it is "on my own terms" ?

That there are others out there who self-destructed more miserably is not a feather in anyone's cap.

I don't hate the guy. Never paid enuf attention to him to like or hate. To me, he's just another one of these pop stars who suddenly bit the dust and looks like it was the usual cause for these celebs.....

Hey, ctrl, you're the daddy of 2 cute kids. You want to see some real talent? Right now I have on Steve Harvey's "Little Big Shots" - what a show and what talented kids! Just now I watched this 4 yr old boy play the piano like a little Liberace......it was truly incredible.

 

And one day if he overdosed... would you feel the same? Being exceptional is lonely. I played for the Queen of England, when I was 15. I gave up on the instrument at 16. I stopped listening to music entirely at 24. I was not a genius, only very good. Prince was a genius, a prodigy. I could not suffer the majority of his work, but it had tentacles which bore deep into popular culture, from Sinead O'connor to Byonce. He died at his own hand... whether or not you think it clever. Most everyone in a hospital ICU with a DNR. It is a gentle push into that goodnight which bridges an ethical boundary none of us wish to discuss. Thank God for good nurses.

So, if I voice my opinion about these celebrities - that's plural, which I had stated b/f, so it wasn't just about Prince, alone - dying from over-dosing on drugs, I'm 'judging' them? Even if I was, why would it matter to you or anyone else? And my opinion would be the same as millions of others b/c these celebrities are role models to the young people and what they see are drug addicts....

And no, I never even hinted anywhere that I tho't his death was 'clever'....anyway, I'm done here.
