I feel so bad for my neighbors because their mobile home got destroyed during hurricane Ian back in September of 2022.

They have been living in a FEMA trailer ever since and just got their original mobile home finally destroyed and moved away.

They bought an early '80s mobile home and decent shape for $10,000 and had it moved on to the lot. The county inspector just told them it's considered an RV because it has a couple of slide outs.

So they won't approve it because an RV can only be a lot that already has a primary residence. So not only did they spend 10 grand for it but probably another three or four to have it moved and set up. Now they're going to have to sell it if they can't do anything with it

Jesus wept..... It's not like someone will go and hook up a 44 ft mobile home to take it over to Daytona and watch the races for the weekend.....

Why do I feel like I do the wrong thing even when I try to do right?

Dude just comes in the store and I just had a vibe about him and I was watching him like a hawk. A hoodie on a not very cold morning and the way he was walking.... Quickly.

I watch him on camera open one of the cooler doors and grab two items and then I see the items disappear under his clothing then he turns around and makes a beeline for the door and before he could get there I block the door. I told him I don't think so, pull that **** out.... It's a sandwich and a drink.

The guy is obviously one of the young local drug addicts. I told him you don't have to come in here and steal you ask someone, if you would have asked me I would have bought it for you.

I should have called the cops on him but I just didn't have the heart to do it. Now he's probably just going to go on down the road and steal from someone else.

I told him do not come back in our store and that every single square inch of our store is on camera. It's a small store and that's almost literally true. There's no place in the store where anything worth stealing is not on camera.

I actually felt bad for the guy because I've been in his shoes in the past. And now I feel like I did the wrong thing because I feel like he might have actually benefited from going to jail. But of course a petty theft charge wouldn't keep him in there but a handful of days anyway.

Fatback's thought of the day, an excuse and a justification and a reason and a validation, is still just an excuse and the justification and the reason and a validation

I have never had a child and I have never wanted to have a child, well when I saw this video I actually cried.

I can feel the pain of this child in my heart. If you can't feel it yourself, your heart is made of absolute granite

I am so blessed to be in my mid-40s and I can still call my Daddy on the phone and feel like a boy every time I talk to him.

Maybe in some other life... I never thought not have a child would make me sad.... Evidently I thought wrong.

It hasn't dropped below 40 here in Southwest Florida yet this year but we are having an extremely wet winter.

It was so cold in Nebraska a woman let her horse come inside her house. Her barn wasn't finished so the house was her next best option.

We are going to see temperatures in the mid to low 30s for the first time this year in Southwest Florida.

Or winter has been what I can only term as bipolar.... Fairly hot and warm and then sometimes even in the same day.... Going to wet and cold

Usually this time of year is our dry season but we have probably gotten more rain by now than we got this summer which is completely backwards. El nino or something is going on.

I had to get up early yesterday morning to take my car for its MOT test.
What a palaver, it was seriously iced up so I opened the door and started the engine while I scraped the ice of the windows. Then when I went to get in it the door wouldn't open again. Nor would any of the other doors.
So I had the engine running but couldn't get in. I ended up having to climb in through the boot. I drove it down to the farmhouse to tell Farmer Paul I was leaving (he was giving me a lift back) but when I got there I couldn't get out. I had to ring him up and get him to bring a kettle of hot water to pour on the lock mechanism in order to get the door open.

The good news is my 23 year old VW Polo passed with no work needed.
Vorsprung durch technik as they say in the Fatherland...

A little political but a neat thought.

    Toby Keith loved his country.

I haven't been around for a while. Since my divorce, I've been busy. I still work 55-60 hrs/week, but I have started construction of my house on acreage near Canton, TX. The slab was poured today. The builder is doing the rough in plumbing, the foundation, metal building, framing external walls and hanging all doors and windows. Sometime in April, I will get to frame, install electrical, AC installation, finish plumbing, do tile, do cabinets and countertops, make some home furnishings, and paint. I will hire out the septic, sprayfoam insulation, and sheetrock. I'll do the solar now if I have the cash. After I'm moved in, I'll save up for a hot tub, wood burning stove, screening in part of my patio.

I'm hoping my cash budget of $250k will cover it all or I'll have to get a loan. I'm hoping to be living in the house by the end of the year and I will finish everything as I save money. I need to get the sheetrock done and I want to paint and get a working sink and bathroom before I can move in.

My dad framed custom homes for 50 years and he is my technical support for all things carpentry. He is 80 and wants to give me all of his tools, so I can build furniture, barn doors, light fixtures, etc...... after I move in.
