Not sure I agree...you should have seen Chris Wallace tearing into Ronald Reagan at a white house press briefing over the Iran Contra thing back in the 80's. If the same thing happened today with a Republican...Chris Wallace would be throwing softballs with a smile on his face with a respectful tone on Fox News Sunday. Chris Wallace used to be a journalist, and he's pretty much the only one on the Fox payroll with any journalism schooling. Most of those guys have political science and communications degrees now.

The mainstream media leaned liberal from 1960-1996 because liberals were statistically more likely to become journalists back when media professionals had journalism degrees. The notion that the mainstream media is as slanted towards the left now, as it was then, is right wing revisionist hogwash. Woodward (Conservative) and Bernstien (Liberal) worked together to take down Nixon in 73. Would you have ever seen Krauthammer and some liberal Washington Post writer working together to take down Bush?...no frickken way. If Watergate happened during Bush, Krauthammer would have been seen on Fox News helping Hume or Krystol spin it the right way.

The MSM used to rake muck on both sides, and there were plenty of conservatives out there to read like Buckley, Novak, and so on...

If the MSM was so abjectly slanted....how did Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagan, and Bush1 ever get elected????

In 1996, Rupert Murdoch brought something new to America...conservative favorable pseudo journalism, that is fully slanted to the right, disguised as mainstream news.

Now...because it's so profitable...CNN, MSNBC, NBC, and others are going full slant to the left.

Now the country is more divided than ever, or at least now, more people realize it, and less people read history, and more people have heads full of parrotted talking points from their media du jour.

Besides...during the 2004 elections at ABC, he instructed his staff to report on the Bush team's habit of using blatant distortions to attack Kerry. Halperin went on to do conservative talk radio after that...imagine that!...he just needed to create his BS for the street cred he'd need to make the switch from ABC to newscorp (righty talk radio/Rupert Murdoch)

What is so stupid about these Palin haters is that shortly after taking office as governor she took measures and performed tasks that true liberals would approve of. I think true liberals really like her. It's the fake ones that hate her because she obviously threatens Obama and the agenda they think he will promote. They make up stories about supposed scandals. They threw ethic charge after ethic charge at Palin, after she was picked by McCain.

Palin took few steps to advance culturally conservative causes. Instead, after she knocked off an incumbent amid an influence-peddling scandal linked to the oil industry, Palin pursued a populist agenda that toughened ethics rules and raised taxes on oil and gas companies.

Palin had signed a bill that increased state taxes on oil profits. The measure imposed a graduated scale, so the state's share would go up even more when oil prices rise.

Palin dubbed her plan "Alaska's Clear and Equitable Share." Oil company profits are taxed at a 25% base rate, up from the previous 22.5%. The tax rate rises 0.2% for each dollar the price of oil exceeds $52 per barrel.

I don't post on this forum to often but I have seen two HUGE falsehoods told by you regarding Sarah Palin.

This one and the other one that I proved false, your false story that "Palin caused the oil companies to cut back on production of 400,000 barrels of oil or some stupid thing. You had nothing for back up and myself and some others posted proof of why oil comanies cut back due to low flow problems that had nothing whatsoever to do with Palin.

So when can we expect you to start stating some actual facts? Anytime soon? You have lost whatever tiny bit of credibility you had on this board IMO.

 

I believe the main stream media is worse than the conservative media and I'll tell you why. The conservative media admits its conservative bias. The main stream media denies their bias. They claim to be evenhanded and to report the news fairly when that is far from the case.

 

I don't know any Plain haters....and I know tons of Democrats and lefties.

I haven't seen anybody hating Palin on this site...I've seen people make fun of her...and I've seen righties get outraged over that...but I must be missing the Palin hating.

Good post, some of these things I did not know about Palin. It does appear that she has made some good decisions in her governance past. I think she has recieve way too much attention, particularly negative attention.

I generally dont like her policies, but to be honest im not quite sure what they are to begin with. This stems from the fact that she is at war with every media outlet except the one that pays her, as well as her inability to articulate it her own views when given a chance. She has repeatedly bumbled interviews, facts, names, policies and failed to establish her own narative. Folksy sayings just don't do it for me.

The one thing she has done which she DESERVES every bit of flak she gets is her abandonment of the governers chair in Alaska. In fact, she doesnt get nearly enough flak for this. She abandoned her constituents so she could travel the country at speaking engagements raking in rediculous amounts of cash and selling books. She has turned the role of public servant into celebrity. For this reason alone I can never take her seriously as a political candidate.

 

What about the term "Fair and Balanced"?

 

Don't waste your time Hummingbird, all you get from Margot is Palin insult and statements that a blatantly false and so easy to prove false a first grader could do it. It really is pathetic. If all I had were insults and false statements I would give up.

And this guy Goldwater is such a stooge that he really thinks he is smarter than Palin and doesn't bother even reading any of the reactions to the 24,000 pages of emails that say the opposite regarding her intelligence.

Because, don't you know Goldwater is the smartest person in the world and he is much more successful in life than Palin.

It's classic Margot. My favorite hit and run claim of hers was when she insisted that 30,000 Brazilians fled from Atlanta even though there were never more than a few thousand Brazilians in Atlanta to begin with.

She had so many ethics charges brought up against after she ran for vice-president by the haters, er-um ones that have contempt for her, the cost of the court cases were prohibitive to the state. A democrat senator in Florida also quit for the same reason - of course no one is still attacking him four years later. Oh...the irony.

Some leftists still have enough common decency and sense left over to find this media witch hunt repulsive. Of course some on the fringe just seem to reflexively hate Palin so they are beyond hope and, like Captian Queeg, will spend the rest of their life looking for the missing strawberries.

Meanwhile, Palin wins again. She is vindicated and the media looks like a hapless bunch of Wiley Coyotes.
