Then somebody started a thread asking, "What's your idea of a perfect future" and she wrote, "marry a rich man and be a soccer mom." *poof* There went everyone's opinions of her grasp on reality. Wish Frogger was around... I'm sure he'd remember that discussion. She was dead serious, folks. As if that's something you can set your sights on at 16.

I would probably teach the same thing if I had a daughter. It will not be her only goal but definitely an exit strategy to consider. What else can I tell her? Marry a poor guy for romance or be a staunch feminist?
Promiscuous 16 yr old girls have about as much chance of snagging a rich man as a pig has of flying over a house. Make sure your daughter has a back-up plan to support herself.

What a myth. The number of permanent relationships between men of means and formerly "promiscuous" women may well outnumber the relationships between men of means and "good girls". Powerful men often prefer powerful women who do more is "proper". Not to mention the high popularity of "re-virgination" plastic surgery to erase all kinds of youthful over-indulgence! Contrary to popular myth, women do not "wear out" spiritually or physically from sex.
I don't think most brides are virgins anymore. To be honest, I think the more promiscuous a girl is, the more men she knows -- the higher chance of meeting rich men. Plain jane who sits at home on a friday doing laundry isn't going to meet a whole lot of men -- rich or otherwise... Besides, if a girl doesn't "put out" once in a while, men have a tendency to seek greener pastures... The most successful girls in the dating game are those that are like drug dealers, the first on is free, but its going cost later .. .hahahahah
I have no statistics to back up my claim and it might well be a myth. I was basically using intuition. Rich people are rick-averse to marrying psychotics or slutty types as a divorce would be very very costly to them.
Guys try this thought experiment. Imagine you had 50 millions now. You can get any girl you want to marry but you cannot control her behaviour and actions that follow the marriage. A divorce will cost you 25 millions at least. What will you choose?

Your intuition is right on. Only in the world of celebrities does a woman's shady past not matter to a wealthy man. Sure, there are always exceptions... but the rich mostly marry people they consider to be their 'equals' -- Pretty Woman stories are just that... stories.
Rich men do not marry women who they consider their 'equals'.... unless you think trophy wives are the equal of "rich men"... but whatever... I know a women who is a nurse -- she's somewhat promiscuous; i.e., she gives it up every now and then; she does not consider it the "holy grail"; she does not lead men on with very little chance of finding "it". She's outgoing and has a terrific personality. She's now married to a neurosurgeon. She would never have met him if she was "plain Jane".. But what do I know? I think mostly feminists regret how the movement had the unexpected consequence of emasculating many American men. We urged them to show their sensitive side and some liked it so much, they never came back around to being 'real men'. The result... many women are now the chief breadwinners in the family... in addition to their other duties as the family's primary caretaker... and men don't seem to mind one little bit.
Social & intellectual equals -- not sexual equals. Most rich men didn't get that way by falling for bimbos. Like someone said earlier, you can buy sex... with no strings attached. Only a fool would marry for it.
