Not at all. I,too, highly disagree with how women are treated in much of the Islamic world.

But that is not the specific fault of Islam. It was not that long ago I spent a lot of time disagreeing how women were treated BY LAW in our CHRISTIAN country, and there are still more than a few who are severely oppressed by Christianity and culture here.

But it is not a matter of RELIGION, it, as always, IS a matter of MEN trying to keep an upper hand by using their religion as an EXCUSE to do what they want.

Hundreds of millions of Muslim women live with respect and fairness in Muslim cultures around the world.

It doesn't matter if a$$holes carry crosses or crescents, THEY MUST CHANGE, not the religion.

 

Others have linked this for me but suddenly you guys move on to other thread trees when they do . GLAAD & the ACLU both supported NAMBLA along with other GLBT groups (Much more in early 1990s but their support still exists ( On a lower scale)

I agree. Why are these Conservatives advocating such brutal actions against Muslims that would likely result in the destruction of everyone else's liberties and freedoms? I am wondering how many of them would favor passage of the NDAA under a Romney or Gingrich administration.

Well, unfortunately, it's not just conservatives...

Both parties have supported Gitmo. Both parties voted to authorize the Iraq War. Both parties voted for the Patriot Act. Both parties voted for the NDAA.

True conservatives and true liberals would be against something like indefinite detainment, but you don't see many of either in Congress.

Well, I would probably substitute true conservatives with libertarians. A true conservative would absolutely advocate for such actions. After all, a fundamental element of Conservatism is government intervention in social affairs.
