American parents and townsmen are not directly persecuting Palestinians, but the US government is the reason why Israel continues persecuting Palestinians, since the US government has made it clear that it is unconditionally supportive and defensive of such apartheid. Without American support for apartheid, Israel would not be able to afford to maintain the status quo. More Americans should have realized this from 9/11, but the Demorepublican monopoly is unlikely to abandon flawed foreign policies.

It was a small, closely held conspiracy that probably cost less than a half million dollars and it was hatched by nominally Muslim dissidents in Hamburg, London and the US.

And, I suspect it was far more successful than they ever imagined since Bush went hogwild and attacked both Afghanistan and Iraq.

 

Fundamentalists won't stop for anything, but a change in the status quo would be less likely to promote fundamentalism while weakening their arguments and reducing their support.
