What the Meadows texts reveal about how two Trump congressional allies lobbied the White House to overturn the election.

In the weeks between the 2020 election and the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, almost 100 text messages from two staunch GOP allies of then-President Donald Trump reveal an aggressive attempt to lobby, encourage and eventually warn the White House over its efforts to overturn the election, according to messages obtained by the House select committee and reviewed by CNN.

The texts, which have not been previously reported, were sent by Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah and GOP Rep. Chip Roy of Texas to then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows. The text exchanges show that both members of Congress initially supported legal challenges to the election but ultimately came to sour on the effort and the tactics deployed by Trump and his team.

    https://www.cnn.com/2022/04/15/poli...n-6-mark-meadows-overturn-election/index.html

IOW, Sen. Lee and Rep. Roy were happily in the car on the way to the bank robbery until they realized the guns were loaded with blanks, there was no viable plan to get in to the vault, and the getaway driver was a blind, crack head. Otherwise, they were good with supporting the most heinous betrayal of our democracy in this country's history.

Lee sent messages to Meadows imploring him to get Kraken head Sidney Powell in to see Trump cuz she was going to save the Union. He didn't know Sid was going to hold a disastrous, batshyte crazy press conference in which she claimed that the election had been stolen from Trump via “communist money” and rigged voting machines from Venezuela, with ties to the Clinton Foundation and George Soros. All she left out was that Biden ate babies. It was right about then when Mike probably wished he had never gotten in to the car.

Your fake CNN articles are getting old... same lying technique
"""according to messages obtained by the House select committee and reviewed by CNN."""

This Jan 6 controversy is another perfect illustration of Casey's words: when everything the American people believe is false, we will know the success of our misinformation efforts.

A federal judge ruled Monday that former President Donald Trump “more likely than not” attempted to illegally obstruct Congress as part of a criminal conspiracy when he tried to subvert the 2020 election on Jan. 6, 2021.

“Based on the evidence, the Court finds it more likely than not that President Trump corruptly attempted to obstruct the Joint Session of Congress on January 6, 2021,” U.S. District Court Judge David Carter wrote.

The more we learn, thanks to the 1/6 committee, the less controversial and more fact based our knowledge about the attempted coup becomes.

""more likely than not”" Trump has more likely than not done a lot of things in life... now there is some solid comment by a judge.

The more lies that CNN feeds you about what the committee is or is not doing, the more garbage you will try to post on here.. Is it odd that CNN can read secret committee reports no one else has....

The reason it is more likely than not is that democrats outnumber republicans in the U.S.

Yes, we have learned alot since January 6, but the committee was responsible for only a bit of what we've learned. The committee has taught us, demonstrated to us, just how rotten politicians in action can be. It has demonstrated how it employs secrecy and deception in Congress, but many of us already knew that.

We have learned that the Biden regime has no respect at all for constitutional governance, ESPECIALLY the matter of Habeas Corpus if you know what that is. 70+ individuals have been held in the prison system without bail or attorney or family visits.

Once upon a time, the US criticized China for such human rights violations, and now the Biden regime imitates them.

Yeah man, 'the committee' you mention is very much like a Star Chamber in the very old days.

Oh yes they will! Anybody who participated, anybody who was merely present there, will be defamed and called names by your illustrious committee. Some of the really unlucky participants are still sitting in prison with no charges, like the Chinese used to do, or the Russians.

Does the government and your committee emulate the Chinese and Russians, or are they merely ignorant of Habeas Corpus?

That false claim has nothing to do with the thread. This is the subject of the thread. Feel free to comment on it.

Roy texted, “We’re driving a stake in the heart of the federal republic.” On Jan. 3, Lee warned Meadows that Trump’s fake elector scheme would “end badly” for the then-president “unless we have the Constitution on our side. And unless these states submit new slates of Trump electors pursuant to state law, we do not,” the GOP senator continued.

Since the Trump you keep throwing trash at is clearly not any Trump we know of, the question makes good sense. You seem to have fabricated a demon that haunts you day and night.

The comments by both men in their text messages are how it should have gone with everyone.

Hope and belief in the beginning, which then wanes when no evidence is produced, to the point that you realize the whole thing is a **** show. These men lived it in a real time.

While I disagree politically with Roy and Lee I'm sure on a fair amount of things, I see nothing wrong with anything they said or did, at least as outlined in this article.

No problem with congressmen advocating for overturning a presidential election before, not after, they were presented with compelling evidence?

No, it's human. Both of these men proved by their documented actions here that while they may have hoped the election could be overturned and Trump elected again, they expected evidence to base that action on and took it on faith in the beginning that it would be provided. And when it wasn't, they changed their tunes.

The words in red are the most succinct and most accurate summation of Benedict Donald's conspiracy to overthrow our free and fair election.

It's the fervent attempt to lock up an individual that no one cares about. The extent that they care about it, the current majority party in power is politically inept both domestically and abroad and they need a squirrel.

In reality, the most they might get is Bannon spending 3 months in county jail(I say 3 months, because he'll serve with time served LMFAO.)

The whole thing is stupid and they're not even chasing their own tail anymore. They're chasing fantasiess agalore.

I still find it quite shocking that even *after* these men, there on the front lines, walking it in real time had to take a honest step back and accept that it was over...

Trump continued to lambast anybody and everybody and even fired several people for not repeating what he knew was a lie. Fortunately, his rage-filled rants are well enough known that people have been able to move on in their careers but he's destroyed people's lives to fabricate a whole conspiracy out of nothing. Police officers injured, some are now dead, people in prison or about to be convicted, etc. His narcissism and lack of empathy and remorse is limitless.

Shouldn't that, alone, make him unfit to hold any public office ever again? I don't understand why anybody would be okay with that?
