imagine you have a successful career and every year you need to give $3,500 to a brother/sister who despite never having a job eats out at the best restaurants every night, something you can not afford to do because your sibling can't live within his/her budget...you would still love your brother/sister but wouldn't be sad to see them leave and look after themselves...

Okay, I didn't think about the french canadians when I said that, or the natives, but what I mean is that they're all part of the larger anglo-saxon culture. Just like the americans are, although the canadians, aussies, and kiwis are much closer to english because of history obviously. I'm not denying that there's such a thing as canadian, just that canadian could be said to be part of 'british'. I mean, no (*)(*)(*)(*) they aren't british in the way you mean; they obviously don't live in britian.

finns are clearly a seperate people, but you're not denying that norwegians and swedes (and danes) could easily be called on people, scandinavians (or norse) right? Actually, I think that danish and swedish are only considered seperate languages because it's different countries. When I say that canadians and english are british I mean that in the same way norwegians and swedes are scandinavians. British happens to be the name of another nationality, which may confuse, so use anglo saxon or whatever. The thing is that they're just varieties of one bigger group. To put it plainly, canadians are brits in many ways wheter you like it or not.

 

the thing is only 20% of Canadians are of English descent and even the english are predominately of north western European decent, Frisians and Saxons ...whether you like it or not we are not Brits...
