interesting. Any murder is wrong but why is the death of 1 gay guy more of a loss to society requiring protests and cries of outrage, but in January alone, 40 blacks were killed in Chicago and it's racist to discuss that vs addressing the issue.

Are gays more important and valuable than the poor folks in Chicago? Here we clearly see that gays are not for equality. if they were, they would be addressing the huge problem in Chicago and Detroit. Nope, instead 1 death seems to be a much larger issue.

Many of us on this forum get attacked by the left because we want to address the crime problem in Chi-town and Detroit.

Will you now simply poo-poo this murder as nothing more than "youths" or "teens" behaving badly?

    Good lord.

Gays are not for equality. Where on earth do people get this nonsense from?

Now I do not want to throw logic into such a well thought out argument like what you have constructed, but perhaps the gay community was simply a bit more reactive about the death of one of their own members at the hands of what very well may be bigots.

    ahh, is there a membership?

I thought equality meant simply that; equality. Obviously you also view this as a much more significant loss

Ah, how cute, the gay implication. My, I have not heard that juvenile taunt in like 2 days.

That being said,. I am amazed that conclusion that you reached, that gays do not believe in equality, not supported in the least by the facts presented, is what you drew from a murder based on what appears to be bias.

this is such a slanted, narrow view of the situation it bewilders me that someone with enough intelligence to discuss this stuff on a political forum can put forth such a notion.

When someone walks up to a black guy in Chicago, harasses him for being black, and then murders him for being black - I think you will see the same level of outrage (if not more so from the NAACP, etc). Blacks murder each other day after day in cities all over America - it's become "normal" to us. Just watch your local 5 or 6 o'clock local news - I know I see probably 3-4 blacks being murdered, as a result of gang or drug violence every week in my area.

Context, my friend. It's all about context.

so the death of a person because their skin is black is OK with you? Why was the life if this gay person more important than any of the 40 who were killed in January in Chicago? Are those 40 victims any less dead?

your "context" is quite apparent. Dead gay guy is bad. Dead black people is OK

Wow! That is one massive straw man argument, a blatant misrepresentation of the views of another person due to your argument's failure.

I never said that, you are reading into what I wrote. I think any murder is a travesty - I simply explained WHY things are as they are. If we had national news about every black person murdered, that's ALL the news would be. You can read racism into that all you want, but you would be wrong to do so.

I can't argue your point about black on white crime though, there does appear to be a fear to report this from the major news media.

Has it? I think what has been exposed is the lack of logic being used in your poorly constructed argument, where things like honesty and accuracy were ignored in an effort to paint others with the very faults that exist in you.

All you have done is call people names due to your argument failing. Nothing more. You have not proven a point. You started off poorly and then went on to imply I was gay, as if that was bad or had meaning here, then said other folks are racists who support the death of black people. Your argument is a steaming pile of failure, attracting flies i the hot summer sun.

Which is the exact point of the OP. Black kills a black. Who gives a (*)(*)(*)(*). 40 blacks dead ... who gives a (*)(*)(*)(*).

It's not that nobody cares - it's just not national news. Again, because black on black crime is so rampant - you could literally saturate 24/7 news channels with these crimes and nothing else.

I get what you guys are trying to say, and I don't necessarily outright disagree. It's that when something (even as bad as murder) is so commonplace, it almost becomes the accepted norm.

Here's an opinion for you - if the news DID cover each and every black homicide, you guys would be in here complaining about how biased the new coverage is and how all they cover is the death of blacks.

40 dead blacks...strike that....thousands and thousands of dead men, women and children are merely collateral damage to the bizarre thinking of the conservative right. You have a lot of nerve even bringing it up; especially bringing it up to attack someone else.

That is strawman nonsense. A very strong case is made here almost daily that crimes involving black perps go deliberately unreported, or are reported without note of race. It is documented by a profound abundance of examples.

You see, to acknowledge the true scope of black criminality is to shine the light on the ugly truth of American liberalism and the failure of its social engineering schemes.

A leap ? That's quite an assumption by you !

More like a thousand small steps, with eyes and mind wide-open, over the last 30 years. Not even a hop was needed.

The soft racism of the progressive establishment allows this to happen. They expect the fatherless blacks that they can't kill with abortions will kill themselves in their teens.

That's the price they are willing to pay for the renewable crop of blindly loyal black voters.

I would not call it soft racism at all. The message from the left that blacks can't compete fairly and need special consideration is as racist as it gets.

This article addresses the community outrage over a murder victim. Do we see the same outrage in Chicago, Detroit or even in NYNY when a black person is killed?

I think this has to be looked at from varying angles. In the case of the gay man killed, it's become a bigger issue because it's more of a 'hate' crime than it is simply just another murder. I don't think it's necessarily just because the man is gay, although I believe that's the reasoning behind the murder, it's just not what the focal point is.

In regards to the others, I think this becomes an issue of politics. Since this is surrounding Chicago, if folks hear about this type of nonsense going on, they're going to say 'We need stricter gun laws'. At which point, folks will begin looking at the type of guns enacted in Chicago. They will, then, begin to see they are some of the strictest in the nation. As such, they will have a fairly harder time, not completely impossible though, of pushing for tougher gun laws in that area. So, what it now becomes, is simply a place where no light will shine on it. It's becoming a problem, the politicians don't know how to handle it, so they will ramp up the police in that area to try and crack down on crime. In which case, it will become more like a police state than a free one. They will blame it on the individuals who live there, I'll blame it on the poor legislation that created a system that spurred up that mess.

In the end, I don't think this is one side of the political spectrum or the other. This comes down to folks believing that legislation can fix all of this mess. With the gay man, they can use this as political fodder to push for certain agenda's. The media will continue to spin this, folks will get angry at it, then they will side with the gay community to pass legislation to give them rights. Looking over, Chicago isn't going to provide hardly anything. If folks watched Michelle Obama's speech at the one school in Chicago, she talked about becoming a better individual, to the community. Which, in of itself, is very much true. However, the resounding efforts weren't tailored towards pushing for stricter gun laws.

What I will await to see is which politician will get in front of the above murder and push for their own agenda. That's when folks will begin to see the true point of these type of reports.

As a libertarian, don't you feel that "hate crime" laws deny non-minorities equal protection under the law? Don't we all deserve equal protection under the law?

funny thing about murders. If a gay guy kills a straight guy, or a black guy kills another black guy, both are equally dead.

The entire concept of "hate crime" diminishes the value of the lives of most people. It places more value on the lives of homosexuals and other protected groups.
