I guess if you wear a tie and have a lawyer, FREE government money isn't welfare!

The Republicans last month URGENTLY passed the $100 BILLION PLUS Farm Corporation Cash Giveaway while eventually passing a massive cut in food stamps.

One Republican Rep has received OVER $5 MILLION in free welfare tax money since 1995!

Lave it to the Right to show us how tax money is taken WHOLESALE!

This is a surprise??? I can count on 1 hand those I would keep. 99% are there to line their own pockets. Come on this is not something new to you is it? Almost every single senator will be a millionaire when they leave political office. They are there for themselves, not America. It's time we put this partisan crap behind us and do what is best for America, not the politicians.

Give me a break. If you think people will starve....or need the amount of food stamps we give them...you don't live in the real world. Good lord...government spends money on mass advertising trying to get people to apply just for the hell of it. That is the Obama administration---getting as many people as possible dependant and expecting something "free" for nothing. I hope you don't get caught up in that trap. Thank God there are republicans out there putting people first..

More importantly....I'm a former welfare recipient. Believe me...the courageous people who want to help people...are the ones who are pulling back.

This is my problem! The GOP. Members are willing to take anything they can get from the system, but the system they voted for does not payout to those to whom they voted their welfare to go too.

Their is an unbalanced system here in favour of the monied few.

This is blatant corruption. How can you vote on a bill that would directly impact you or your family?

Indeed. The biggest welfare moochers are corporations, the agriculture industry and the red state deadbeats.

That's Republicans in general. They feel they are entitled to aid when they need it but don't seem to want anyone else to receive it.

Dave, all joking aside. I agree with you. The role of government is to not play favorites. No money for anyone. Earn it yourself.

    Good , good!
Keep on oppressing the popolo , widen the income disparities , cut from the poor to give to the rich , force the police state .
It will work fine , trust me!

It would seem these people have investments in things where they get a kick back from the government, It could be anything connected to farming. They voted with the majority of other Republicans on the cut. Did you know that you can be just a land speculator and buy up a bunch of farm land and hold it for years, waiting to develop it into a housing project, shopping center, or factory and get a farm subsidy for not planting crops, even if you had no intention of growing any? These people are millionaires and along with the other millionaires in Congress,(Which there are more Democrats than Republicans) are going to benefit one way or the other from government programs. We just don't know all the ways they get these benefits. But they aren't fools, they know which places to put their money to take advantage of government programs. If you think Democrats don't also do it, I have some ocean front property to sell you here in Arizona.

You make a good point that is often overlooked. But first, the food stamp welfare handout (SNAP program) was not "cut" by anybody... it simply went back to the level it should have remained at before the Obama regime jacked it up higher before the last election.

The greater point which you illustrate is not directed at the Republicans alone, but all of the "Overlord" class. The primary instrument that they use to give themselves an enormous, permanent benefit none of the rest of us has is in the U. S. Tax Code itself, which provides them with tax write-off's, tax loopholes, tax shelters, tax exclusions, and tax exemptions. If everyone had to pay taxes with no consideration given to anybody's special "status" or sacred-cow, then and only then could we have a FAIR system.

We've never had a FAIR tax system in at least 100 years. And neither Republicans nor Democrats are ever going to produce one. "Rich Republicans" and "Limousine Liberal Democrats" who get rich and stay that way because of this grossly unfair tax system like things just the way they are... and they keep enough subsistence welfare flowing among the vulgar rat-herd to keep them distracted and quiet....

The farmers receiving the subsidies produce something important for our economy - food, while the deadbeat son food stamps produce nothing.

Democrats cut food stamps subsidy to bailout teachers unions

President Obama signed the $26 billion dollar bailout package for teachers unions that will be paid for mostly by cuts in the food stamp program and the Department of Energy’s renewable energy loan guarantee program.

The House vote went mostly along party lines passing with a 247-161 margin. Two Republican’s voted for the measure three Democrats voted against the bill.

With the bills passage the big losers were renewable energy advocates which took a $1.5 billion dollar cut to help cover the costs. This on the heals of the Department of Energy’s renewable energy program taking a $2 billion dollar cut from the failed cash for clunkers program.

But the group that took the biggest hit were those people on the governments food stamp program which has grown astronomically over the past year as high unemployment continues to grip the country. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as food stamp program had their funding reduced by $12 billion dollars to help pay to prop up the teachers unions.

An independent agnostic. But I was raised strict southern Baptist and my father was a minister of a strict Baptist church. It was easy to guess your affiliations from your comments as they square soundly with the ones I grew up hearing preached from the pulpit. Then as now I find it astounding that Republican Christians can't or won't see the socialist practices that were demonstrated by Jesus in the new testament gospels. As I have read the entire new and old testaments I would like take a moment here to point a few of them out.

1st - Jesus never asked anyone for their insurance card first before healing them. He never asked for any money to heal them. As best as I can tell he healed them for two reasons - 1). Because he could. - 2). Because it was the right thing to do.

2nd - Jesus instructed his 12 followers to cast away their belongings and go about to and fro preaching his message while relying on others that they came across to meet their basic needs.

3rd - Jesus feed the multitudes with five loaves and 2 fish collected from the whole group and redistributing them to everybody.. rich, poor, adult, children, old, young , male, female,... the entire collective body and he didn't ask any of them for money. As best as I can tell he did it for two reasons - 1). Because he could. - 2). Because it was the right thing to do.

Like it or not these are socialist practices. I'm going to make a guess here and state that, in my opinion, Jesus would not cut the food stamp program that helps the needy!
