    How have I let the people who did this get away with anything?

    I called them out for sexualized exploitation of a child, but AFAIK, nothing that happened was illegal, so it’s not like they can be prosecuted.

    My first reaction was to condemn the unjustified attack on millions of people because of this one incident.

    But I don’t believe someone who hates freedom and wants the government to enforce their morality at gunpoint has any room to criticize others.

    I didn’t read the whole thread because I know what it’ll be filled with. Just figured I’d add my two cents.

    Kid clearly shouldn’t have been in a bar and grown men shouldn’t have been throwing money at him. That being said the actions of some drunken gay men in a bar don’t define all gay people everywhere.

    Pedophilia will never be normalized. But I’m disgusted by how both sides have portrayed it. It’s really starting to look like that “kink” of liking children is a pathology. Homosexuality can’t be helped, and those people probably can’t be cured.

    That said, to criminalize and ostracize these people is idiotic. You push them in hiding and then they’ll break one day and do something horrible to a child. Liking children is or isn’t in a person, ACTING on it should not be tolerated. We should find these people, do a program for institutionalization, or major support for them so they don’t harm a kid.

    In inbetween on this. Pedophilia as the act is deplorable. Before that moment, there is a person with urges they can’t control. We shouldn’t demonize them, we should find them and try to help. If not for them, for the kids. I see this similar to addiction. We criminalize something that’s a pathology, instead of treating it for what it is.

    So I disagree with your take and agree with it. It shouldn’t be normalized, but we need to stop criminalizing things without investigating and researching them. To just say “omg it’s horrible lock them up!” You also accept and agree with future children getting hurt.
