It is generally OK to have kids in restaurants/bars but not in bars themselves. And you have to be at least 18 to work in a bar. The boy was 11 working as an entertainer so he should have needed an employment contract. It is unclear if he can work as an entertainer in a bar. It is probably illegal.

The sanction for this sort of thing is usually a fine.

That's certainly part of the problem. The other parts of the problem, IMO, are that the bar exploited the boy and the boy was a willing participant in his exploitation.

I would presume that the 13 year old female singer wasn't behaving like a stripper, too.

I think it's obvious why all that happened at that club. What I would like to know is 1) where were his parents in all this and 2) are the authorities in New York okay with parents allowing their children to be exploited like that?

don't get me wrong pageant culture is pretty f***** up and you make a very good point. But this is an 11 year old boy stripping at a strip club. That is f***** Beyond ****ed. If pageant culture evolved into stripclub culture I think you would see the same criticisms occurring.
