Good, so now you'll tell us what a stunning victory three years of bombing Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia was. And don't give me any crap about your hands being tied. That pathetic excuse is stale. You fought a disciplined and determined force, on their own turf, which all your awesome technology couldn't defeat. You went home.
Really? We flattened every major city in Germany during WW2, and that campaign is universally acknowledged to have been a waste of time, blood and treasure as well. The aim was the destruction of civilian morale; it failed in Germany just as the Blitz failed in Great Britain.
You seem a bit agitated. What is at the root of all your anger and denial? Sorry for your losses in Manchester . I think we had this discussion a few times regarding immigration and tolerance for it.
The effort we gave in Vietnam was less than 10% what we gave against Germany and Japan in WW II. The politicians tried to win cheaply, which meant a general stalemate. And they kept feeding young people in to be killed year after year.
It's a given that the Blitz failed in Britain. But err... Germany got extra in return. They don't seem that hungry for war no more, so I'm thinking it worked. Britain, you are probably going to have to nuke us. More than twice too.
Germany lost for a couple of reasons; over-extended supply chains in Russia and attempting the futility of fighting a war on two fronts. Then there were naval blockades preventing vital supplies (like food), getting to the population. Bombing centres of civilian population in Germany was a wasted effort, and Arthur Harris, the instigator of the campaign, is still criticized for it today. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blockade_of_Germany_(1939–45)
Germany ran out of oil and men between 18 and 35. They had nothing left. Hitler completely underestimated GB, the U.S., and the Soviets.
And yet German aircraft production actually rose in the final year of the war. Yes, Hitler got pretty much everything wrong. Mostly by attempting to micro-manage every campaign instead of trusting his generals to do the jobs they were trained for.
Yes it was a bit pathetic for the Beatles to go to India to try to get "spiritual enlightenment", I can only assume Jesus meant nothing to them. George later became infatuated with the Harry Krishna thing; I wrote to him at his English mansion offering to have a religious debate but he never replied. When he died, his ashes were slung in the "sacred" river Ganges, he's a real nowhere man now...
Why on Earth would Jesus have to mean anything to Harrison? He (Jesus), means nothing to me either. Then again I have the gift of rational thought, and don't believe in fairy-tales.
In fact, being a free man, I get to respond to goings on anywhere in the world. You'll need a better argument than that.
Many Eastern Europeans will protest that they have greater peace there because they keep Muslims out, as much as possible, and should not be confused with the goofier western parts.. The countries with the problems (rapes and terrorism) were the ones who figured that bringing in Muslims would only make their cultures more multi.
As I tell atheists mate, try to think like a scientist.. Scientists estimate there are thousands of intelligent alien races out there (google 'The Drake Equation'). Jesus said straight out he was an alien visitor with awesome powers, there ya go..
Yes, a network of many millions of serious nut jobs spread throughout the world while the Peter Pans worry about "Islamophobia" or 'another Viet Nam'.
What ?? It was successful and resulted in the destruction of one of the most damaging governments in history.
“What I’ve learned since 9/11 is that the small pleasures—music, theatre, film—have to be earned. In the Muslim world, there is no music. In Libya they destroyed all the musical instruments—music was considered an abomination. When the demography changes, there will be no concert halls. Artists who take a multicultural view should be aware of this. Count the number of covered women in London’s West End. In Birmingham, where I went to high school, you have a provincial symphony orchestra in a Muslim city—I’m not sure it will survive. All art, all popular culture, is endangered by Islam, because there’s no room for it. It’s considered libertinism. And I’m not even talking about Miley Cyrus twerking at the music awards. What turned Sayyid Qutb against the morality of the West is that he attended a church dance in Greeley, Colorado, which was a dry town in 1948, and he heard the song ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’. He thought it was evil. And now things are getting a lot worse. Ugly things are happening.” Sayyid Qutb supplied the intellectual heft to radical Muslims.
First of all Bosnia is not an Islamic Country nor has it ever been. Kosovo is not a Country, Albania is not Islamic its an secular country with somewhat majority of muslims.
