Plenty! And easy to find, just Google. And overwhelming! Free birth control lowers abortion rates.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/05/us/study-finds-free-contraceptives-cut-abortion-rate.html?_r=0

Free birth control led to greatly lower rates of abortions and births to teenagers, a large study concludes, offering strong evidence for how a bitterly contested Obama administration policy could benefit women’s health. The two-year project tracked more than 9,000 women in St. Louis, many of them poor or uninsured, who were given their choice of a range of free contraceptives. These women experienced far fewer unintended pregnancies as a result, reported Dr. Jeffrey Peipert of Washington University in St. Louis in a study published Thursday. There were 6.3 births per 1,000 teenagers in the study, compared with a national rate of 34 births per 1,000 teens in 2010. There also were substantially lower rates of abortion, when compared with women in the metro area and nationally: 4.4 to 7.5 abortions per 1,000 women in the study, compared with 13.4 to 17 abortions per 1,000 women in the St. Louis region, Dr. Peipert calculated. The national rate is almost 20 abortions per 1,000 women. Women’s health specialists said the study foreshadows the potential impact of the new health care law, in which millions of women are beginning to get contraceptives without a co-payment.

WASHINGTON Free birth control led to dramatically lower rates of abortions and teen births, a large study concluded Thursday. The findings were eagerly anticipated and come as a bitterly contested Obama administration policy is poised to offer similar coverage.

So in reality then you disagree with reducing unintended or unwanted pregnancies.

Face it Sam, on this subject you cannot win or even make a valid point, the evidence is overwhelming that comprehensive sex education and free contraception reduces unintended and unwanted pregnancies and therefore abortions .. the only reason why pro-lifers would stand against this is purely religious based, and there desire to control women's sexual habits.

There is research after research proving that if you restrict access to contraception then the abortion rate rises

Post them because I will review them (remembering I am a health professional able to critique research) and give you an analysis

then please do put up these studies, along with their source data and peer reviews.

Can you not think for yourself and actually spends some time doing the research, or is it just easier to quote other posters comments that were totally deunked.

Churchmouse used a lot of pro life sites which are notorious for misrepresentation of facts

    Research paper 1

    Research paper 2

    http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0002937894050088

There has to be four things for contraception to work to reduce abortion rates

    1) Societal acceptance of the use of contraception
    2) education
    3) access
    4) affordability

    1955!!!

You are quoting a research paper from 1955!!! I am not going to tell you why this is ridiculous - some thinking about medical advances should get you the answer. If not google up when the contraceptive pill was first put on the market

Aaaaaand here is where they were sourced "Life news" which has been caught more than once http://www.lifenews.com/2012/02/17/studies-birth-control-contraception-dont-cut-abortions/

Thank-goodness I found it because they were listed under "Testimony" not "research" and it saved me having to try and find them through Google

Didn't answer my question, Sam...I'll repeat it....given you oppose contraception?

So when you get married, if you get married, Sam....you and your wife will keep having children until she becomes menopausal. Even if gets to be 10-12-15 or more children, like Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar?

Nothing you have posted refutes the actual facts.

No. I would never want to have 10-15 children.

    so you are either going to do one of the following then;

    Abstain
    Use contraception
one of you or both of you will get sterilized.

    Which one Sam?

Then HOW....EXACTLY would you prevent your wife from getting pregnant every time you have sex? Not have sex after the 3-4 kid?

I have a sneaking suspicion...Sam doesn't want to stay on this line of questioning for too long or in much detail. Call it a hunch. :)

    Hmm .. irrelevant

You comment "No. I would never want to have 10-15 children."

So please do tell how you are going to stop having children if you don't believe in abortion or contraception, you either have to abstain (very doubtful), go against your beliefs and use contraception or abortion or get surgically sterilized, those are the ONLY ways you can avoid further pregnancies.

The reason I am against your idea of promoting contraception, is because of the moral message that it sends. I never said that contraception itself is immoral.

What moral message that it is immoral to protect yourself against STD's and pregnancy, what planet are you from?

and you still haven't answered the question.

Promoting contraception sends the moral message that premarital sex is okay as long as there are no consequences.

    Wrong, yet again.

Promoting contraception use sends the message of if you are going to have sex then bloody well be protected, not just from pregnancy but from STD's etc.

The only people who think promoting contraceptive usage implies "that premarital sex is okay as long as there are no consequences." are religious fundies.

BTW, you do realize that promoting contraception ALSO includes promoting abstinence .. don't you?

You do also realize that there are two types of consequences don't you .. positive and negative, the one you allude to is the negative variety
