In my area (two SMALL cities in a large county) the local all things Democrat all the time newspaper in the beginning daily reported the number of cases in each on the front page, the total numbers have remained so ridiculously low they dropped that and began to send out a daily "compliance" Gestapo to local stores to recount how many people are wearing masks and social distancing. As many people don't wear masks as do (I do) and yet our numbers have remained so low it's become a running joke in conversations. Go figure.

If you bothered to read anything I've posted, I've already made my statement. Trump could have done better with those statements. His actions were timely, and were not the cause of the supposed 'preeminent hot spot' you claim.

So, if Trump had acted in the manner you would deem appropriate (which I highly doubt you could qualify) what would be the infection rate? Death rate? Please do tell, the nation wants to know.

There are many running jokes in my part of Florida. The most common thread is the number of people who signed up for testing, showed up for the test but grew impatient with the long wait times, went back home, and 10 days later received notification of positive results when THEY WERE NEVER TESTED.

It's amazing. People shake their heads. That this "crisis" is some sort of scam is a widely held view around here.

Many people have been infected but very few have died. In a perverse way, it is very much a running joke. The wheels have come off the narrative on the local level.

So with 174,963 deaths in 8 months (for all intents and purposes) that's an average of 21,870 per month. 4 months left in the year: 87,481 more deaths. 262,444 for the 12 month period on a straight math basis.

But, with mask mandates and social distancing, the number should continue to drop. People will not be going to beaches in droves, or other tourist destinations, usually around end of September, travel slows down. Testing has increased, albeit a high percentage of false positive/negatives. And most high risk people are taking extra precautions and Cuomo won't be sending sick Seniors into nursing homes/virus incubators, so that will account for something.

The numbers are dropping, and with periodic exceptions, I believe will continue to drop.

 

Winter is coming.

People will be inside, windows will close. That's why the flu spreads in winter, and it's why some experts expect a surge in the death rate because having the two together will likely kill people the disease alone wouldn't kill.

As I stated, either way, it's way, way, way too many people killed. And most didn't have to die, if we had followed medical advice the way most countries did.
