That's definitely fair imo My view on all this seems like both sides are interested in helping their preferred groups (bureaucrats on Democrats side and Corporations on the Republican side) but one side will throw the peons scraps every now and again while the other is focused on passing corporation liability protection against people getting Corona virus on the job...
I can't tell if you're joking because I've read your posts in the past, and you're usually well informed. When the underlying fundamentals of an economy are bad like in 2008 the recovery takes time to get started. We didn't see any sort of real job growth until 2010 and it wasn't sustained until 2011. We're literally two months out from the crash. This might as well be a depression, but it's really more like punctuated prosperity.
Yeah, deaths and hospitalizations lag behind the new case rate. They'll probably be up in two weeks, too. I'm shocked at how naively optimistic some folks are about this stuff.
Obviously good news but let's check go see if we are back to where we were before Trump started to mishandle this virus deal. Sadly our unemployment is still at 11+ %. More than double from before the virus. How can you crush something that is just a "hoax " made up by the "Democrat Party"?? Same reason he never did anything about the report of Russian GRU paying Taliban a bonus to kill American and allied troops. He said that was a "hoax". Global warming is a "hoax". Racism is a "hoax". The belief that Africans were brought here and used as slaves is a "hoax". Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation was a "hoax" since there were no slaves so who in the hell was he supposed to emancipate? Moon landing was a "hoax". Oops sorry that one goes over to the Constipated Scientific Conspiracy section.
Which everybody knew would happen. Why do you act like that is news? When people start moving around cases will go up....that's common sense. Also, there's been a lot more testing so a lot more cases, that's also common sense. The rate of tests coming back positive has fluctuated so that's irrelevant and no conclusions can be drawn from it (even though you'll try). What the left needs to understand is that destroying peoples lives economically will have far worse long term effects than a virus that kills at .2%. If you're at risk, take precautions, if not, don't ruin your life. When the left gets this (and I'm sure they magically will in november if biden wins) we can then move forward. Until then, we have to deal with the left putting politics above peoples lives. It's pathetic, but politics takes precedence over everything right now for the left. They'll claim otherwise, but their actions prove this.
Fluctuated? No, I will just prove it absolutely false. Here is the daily: It is objectively rising and has been for the last ~20 days. "The virus that kills at 0.2%" (which is an absurdly low estimate and does not match the current data) is also to blame for shutting down the economy. You aren't going to see an economy that works at any degree of normality when 100,000 are getting confirmed as infected every day and 2000 are dying every day. Roughly 15% of those infected and who display symptoms will need to be hospitalized. Of those, roughly 1/3 will die. That is the same ratio as ebola. If you want trump to get re-elected, convince him that he needs to crush the virus first.
No not hijacked at all. The old guard began taking corporate bribes like the GOP does. The Progressives are the future of the party or they need to go their separate ways.
You mean Dem party leaders and THEIR media outlets politicizing Covid-19 and DEMANDING that states shut down again simply so that they can continue torpeedoing the economy?
I wonder what large scale absenteeism does for a business and then an economy.. I also wonder if it's hard to make money when your laid up at home in a 14 day quarantine from the employer and employee perspective? The only people messing with peoples money right now is Mitch McConnell and this is coming from a Republican leaning individual who's argued with you countless times.
~ Both parties are guilty of taking bribes - they always have. Today's Capitol Hill Democrats have abandoned the U.S. Constitution & embraced communism .
The virus isn't 20 days old. Thank you for proving me right...it has fluctuated. Unless you have evidence that the disease has changed in the last 3 weeks and we should ignore the time before that..... .2% is not absurdly low. It might be .5% or so, but very unlikely that it is higher given how many cases there most likely are of people who never get tested. Also, this isn't a disease where you should really be looking at a single death rate. The death rate is absurdly low for people not at risk. This is the main reason the economy shutting down is the major disaster here, not the virus. You've got people who are at virtually no risk or very low risk being forced to have their lives ruined because the left wants to win an election, not protect peoples livelihoods. Like I said, if you're at risk, take precaution. If you're not at risk, your life shouldn't be ruined. The results of destroying an economy can have effects for generations.....but don't let that get in the way of your politics.
The thing that changed roughly 20 days ago is not the virus, it is our response to the virus. The rising positive percentage in the last 20 days proves that there is now more community spread. A) Yes, the 0.2% estimate is extremely low. Right now, America has lost ~130,000 people and there are 1.164 million recovered (add another ~240K to compensate for the States that do not report recoveries) and when you divide the deaths against the total resolved, you get a case fatality ratio that is somewhere north of 8%. Even if you factor in asymptomatic and those who never got tested which is estimated to multiply the number of cases by around 10, you get a mortality rate of 0.8%, which is roughly 8 times higher than the seasonal flu. And it is more lethal across every single demographic with the exception of those under the age of 15. B) The damage inflicted by this virus, even for those who survive, is long lasting and sometimes permanent damage to their heart, lungs, and vascular structures. This virus is to blame for any economic damage created by the response. We need to crush the virus before we can return to any sense of normalcy.
~ No we don't. We need to fear being duped by big government hacks and their hounds. America needs to be watchful of communistic Marxist takeover in the guise of "progressive " politics. You can live fearful of the catastrophic predictions of which one comes after the other. ~ There is more community testing - not illness.
I want to focus on the "if you're at risk," portion of your policy recommendation. Let's assume that it is remotely possible to isolate only those who are "at risk," what percentage of the population do you consider to be at risk? Keep in mind that things like obesity, high blood pressure, old age, previous history of cancer, COPD, and diabetes are all considered comorbidities for this virus. Given all those, what percentage of the country do you think would need to isolate themselves? And when you recognize that the number is probably close to 30% or higher, ask yourself whether the economy can resume normal operation while missing 30% of the population?
Sure but POTUS D will toot it as the biggest most beuitiful for spacious sky's amber waves of grain recovery ever seen anywhere in the universe. Ahmen! It is moving in the right direction. Let's hope that the Virus II does scrud us up.
This is real simple. If you do 100 tests with 5% returned as positive (5 cases), and then you run 1000 tests and return with 3% as positive (30 cases), you can claim that the increased testing is the reason why you found 25 more cases. If you do 100 tests with 5% returned as positive (5 cases), and then you run 1000 tests and return 7% as positive (70 cases), you must recognize that increased community spread is needed to explain why you found 65 more cases.
Yes! We have Trump in a real pickle now! If the economy does well Covid will get worse. If Covid gets better the economy gets worse! Hopefully both get worse and we Win!!! Disgusting...
