In my state someone making minimum wage would get 51 dollars a week in UE.

SNAP is 51 bucks a week.

That comes out to 10.05 and hour for a 40 hour week.

So yes, if an employer is not beating this, then there is a problem.

 

They should actually do the math. Cutting the profit of the owner will not make up the difference.

You can go on line and get the total profit of a major corporation and the total sales.

 

I added up the weekly benefits someone in my state gets, adding in the 300 bucks from the Feds.

300 from the Feds plus 51 from the state UE and 51 for SNAP. That adds up to 402 dollars a week. Multiple that times 40 hours and you come up with an hourly rate of 10.05

You can also get their total sales and their total hourly employee information. You can get a pretty good estimate of how much profit that leaves for the owners and what the additional pay contributes to the overall cost of goods.

The owner, by the way is people like me who have saved and invested all our lives. Inflation makes that savings worth a lot less.

 

I generally provide all the required information. Otherwise, assumptions are needed.

Same question applies to you. Most companies operate on a fairly small profit margin. By the time they pay the rent, the utilities, taxes etc margins are quite thin. And let's not forget business owners the same living expense bills as everyone else.

 

So $300/40 = $7.50 per hour. What is their production increase for that $7.50? What additional costs are their for the employer to that $7.50? How is that calculated into the cost of the product, and the increases for production of the other COGS involved in your burger and fries? Utilities? Increase in wages for other workers who were already making that increased base?

 

Not a clue, nothing ruins a person quicker than a silver spoon and no work ethic.
