    Exactly. If you believe in a "safety net" -- that is, government subsidy for the poor, why wouldn't that apply to all industries -- not just food?

    I'm sorry, the invisible hand theory was discredited a century ago. But I don't believe there would have to be as many safety nets if the government hadn't allowed the corporations to siphon off middle class wealth for the past 30 years.

    Get rid of the loopholes that allow Buffet to pay a lower precentage of taxes than his secretary, the tax breaks for the hedge fund managers and their ilk, the lobbyists, ALL the legislation over the past 30 years that has allowed big capital to suck at the public trough at the expense of the 99%, the multi-nationals and the outsourcers, the current Supreme Court, the government/private sector 'partnerships' and a Senate that allows small states to be hugely over-represented - do all that and I might consider being a conservative again.
