Consider, neither Biden nor Sanders would probably beat Trump.
    Sanders has lost his Bern!

That leaves a lot of "Dark Horse" Candidate possibilities.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_horse
My favorite President, James K. Polk was a Dark Horse.

Politically, the concept came to the United States in the nineteenth century when it was first applied to James K. Polk, a relatively unknown Tennessee politician who won the Democratic Party's 1844 presidential nomination over a host of better-known candidates. Polk won the nomination on the ninth ballot at his party's national nominating convention, and went on to become the country's eleventh president.

Other successful dark horse candidates for the United States presidency include:

This Thread is NOT about a discussion whether you agree all of the above are representative of
    Dark Horse candidates.

This Thread is about who would make the best Dark Horse candidate to beat Trump accepting neither Biden nor Sanders can.

With Moi's generosity, YOU have 2 votes.
Why is this/those candidates of your votes a likely possibility to defeat Trump, y'think?
    Nominate, "Other" as you like.

My favorite candidate for the Dems would be Mitch Landrieu, former mayor of New Orleans, and bother of former Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu.

I would love to see him in the running.

ASIDE: I think either Biden or Sanders could beat Trump. It is gonna be tough no matter what, though, because the crazies have taken control of the asylum.

Beto was in tonight's CBS Evening News criticizing
Trumps further deployments to the Middle East.
So Why Didn't You Give Beto O'R one vote? @Sallyally :nana:

Sanders is now - - also doing a "MeToo" against war and deployments.
The Bern just ain't there like 2016. Is it? Couldn't win against Trump like '16
He should go back to his major '16 themes.

I think Tulsi Gabbard would be a formidable opponent to any Republican in 2020 and beyond.

I could see her defecting to the Repubs if the MAGA crowd ever get's purged and becoming a start. But running as a Dem will force her left. A religious fundamentalist with connections to a militant cult playing at being a liberal... I'd be tempted to Vote for Trump (I wouldn't, better to throw away my vote on a decent 3rd party) faces with that level of absurdity. Trump was the most hated candidate in history (running against the 2nd most hated) and is even LESS popular now. I'd still give Trump the win in that match up. But again, if she actually ran as a conservative she's be a powerhouse.

She describes herself as a progressive, so I doubt she would ever become a Republican.

She's a Hawaiian Dem who want's to have a political career. lol Her record is conservative. And I mean Pence style conservative (minus the Christianity). If she'd been born in Texas and nothing else changed, she'd be a Repub right now.

She's pretty much coasting on her calling out the DNC in '15 helping her out in the Sander's crowd. As soon as the debates happen and her past positions and radical Hinduism is brought up, game over. And if SOMEHOW she got the nomination, her 'progressive' street cred would be destroyed by the Primary fight and Dems will be angry like they were after Clinton won. Independents won't buy it, the party's base will revolt and Trump will just play the race/religion card. Trump would crush her.

But all of the above is here fighting with 1 hand behind her back. If the Repubs got over race and Christianity (or replaced by a new conservative party without that baggage) and she ran as a conservative, I really do think she'd be a powerhouse in national politics. But as long as she's 'stuck' in Hawaii she has to play the liberal due to the nature of that state.

I know a bit about her past positions on gay marriage and abortion, but I think Dems will forgive anything to win. She is very classy, very articulate, and very intelligent. She is a Major in the Hawaii NG and an Iraq war veteran. She opposes wars of choice and interventionism while taking a hard line on Al Qaeda. She has bucked the Dem establishment in the past, showing an independent streak. The Dem establishment might not like her, but remember ... the Republican establishment didn't like Trump, and look what happened. In these times we live in, anything is possible.

My pick was Gabbard and Hickenlooper even though Trump will beat anyone.

I would vote for Mitch Landrieu in a minute. I've even trolled him on facebook and twitter trying to get him to throw his hat in the ring along with the others.

My favorite is Senator Michael Bennet. We just haven't heard enough from him yet. CNN is having a Town Hall this Thursday night with Michael Bennet. I've read his manifesto and the guy just simply makes sense.

As for Michael Bennet, let me tell you I have tried to engage him or his office a dozen times over several issues, and all I ever get back from them is the same form letter every time, "we care about the opinion of all Coloradans, blah blah blah" never ever ever once did I ever receive a single acknowledgment of the subject matter I contacted his office about, not once. What does that tell you about that clown? Hickenlooper is spineless, the minute someone gives him a dirty look he will change his stance on something.

I think Gabbard is the best chance for the dems but they will collectively screw this up just like Republicans screwed up the prior two elections before Trump. And had the republicans gone with someone else then the witch would be president today.

Both Cory Booker and Kamala Harris are dark.

Both are Mulatto but only Kamala Harris is a member of the Mulatto Mafia.

Both Harris and Booker's ancestors were slave owners.

Booker even has ancestors who fought for the Confederacy.

So just because Michael Bennet didn't personally get back to you personally you've written him off entirely? Have you ever read his manifesto? If not, you can read it here. If you're totally turned off because you didn't get a response you wanted then it's pointless even investigating what his ideology is for the country. I did see Michael Bennet rage in front of the Senate for the sake of all you 'Coloradans' during the partial shutdown, and was quite impressed by his passion.

    https://link.medium.com/ue0mbm2XZW

Tulsi Gabbard is not a real contender in this race as far as I can see. There's too many candidates and she's not making an impression on anyone that I know. Her polls are in single digits in national polls.

My wishful thinking is that Andrew Yang could be a strong contender. My other choice was for the ghost of John F. Kennedy. Either of them would be far better than any of the other creatures I see crawling up out of the Democrat toilet at this point....

Michael Bennett is a tool. He follows orders from Pelosi, he is essentially a punk. All theater. and yes I am upset that he would never engage me on any subject because he is a coward and I would have ate his lunch and he knows it.

The best thing about a Michael Bennett candidacy is that it may get his sorry, dripping-liberal ass OUT of Colorado (where I live).

This guy has always been in-thick with the hyperliberal Democrat klatsch in Denver/Boulder, a practiced 'bobbing-head-doll' for "Messiah" Obama, and a lockstep teacher union apparatchik as the former Denver public schools superintendent.

Bennett's a worthy combination of just about everything that makes a Conservative Coloradoan's skin crawl! In Colorado, ALL of these Democrats live for two things -- creating laws that limit a person's individual freedoms, and jacking up both taxes and "fees" as often as possible, as much as possible....

But we're not done there! No, we've got another liberal creep running for president from Colorado, too -- John Hickenlooper. I'll get to him in another thread. After thinking this much about Bennett, I'm nauseous and may need to go throw up....

    Casually,
Have you noticed any news stores on the above candidates
compared to a Daily Dose of Biden?

I have seen one Beto story with no substance, just hand shaking.

The News Media is too much of a conglomerate owned by too few
and needs to be broken up, denying ownership of more than one media.
Own a newspaper. Own a TV Station. Not both!

BTW there was some sort of Democratic Party Convention in California this w'end.
Joe didn't attend and neither did the News Media except to
    report it happened.

    Got Censorship?
Yes We Do! Via choice of story.
