This is a deep argument to discuss and I would like to keep a political stance.

The matter of the eventual creation of a Palestinian National Army [I will use the acronym PNA] has been debated for long in several environments [also in EU].

The main point [which is today more urgent and meaningful, with the Islamic State infiltrating Gaza] is that the PNA has to be lay and neutral, totally disengaged from religious / para religious and extremist ideological groups. The model to follow should the be the Turkish one. The Turkish Army has granted that Turkey followed the path decided when the Republic had created. I imagine something similar for the future of Palestine:

a strong civil and lay Army able to defeat Hamas, to prevent or to face infiltrations by the Islamic State and to grant stability to the Palestinian institutions.
